Just to pass on some added information, about which we'll be saying more. There is chatter in Pakistani intelligence circles that the US has let the Pakistanis know that the optimal time for bagging 'high value' al Qaida suspects in the untamed Afghan-Pakistani border lands is the last ten days of July, 2004.

The inference being they CIA) know where Bin Laden is and are waiting to capture/kill him in late July, just in time for Dubya to gloat at the Republican Convention.

Valley, are you mad that Ed spilled the beans or that Bush is letting OBL run free until it is politically advantageous for him?

The report is by Josh Marshall.

I don't know why you take anything he says seriously.

That's no different than if I were to quote Limbaugh.

Can we now finally agree that unless I specifically say something, then it is not true. That I am the harbinger of all correct information and media?
Don't you people get my faxes? You all are in extreme danger of being fired now.

p.s. LAN, I got my Dad to look at your OKC/Iraq thread. I am gonna call him in a bit to see what he thought.

I'm surprised you would compare Josh Micah Marshall with Rush Limbaugh. Limbaugh is an entertainer, pure and simple. While Josh is a respected journalist, who is well respected by many people from both sides of the political spectrum. He is clearly a partisan, makes it clear that he is, discusses where he's coming from, what he thinks, when he is unsure, uses sources well, and will admit a mistake or misunderstanding when he makes it.

They're simply not in the same league.

I challenge you to read Talking Points Memo for a week, and see just how professional he is.

Peter Jennings is classiffied as a "respected journalist" too, but I wouldn't invite him to dinner.

Besides, isn't "respected Journalist" an oxy moron?
(Not being sarcastic. totally serious.)

The last thing one would want to be "known as" for a journalist is "respected" isn't it?

Ask 10 Journalism students why they are in school -- 8 of them are likely to respond: to make an influence/change in the world for good.

I use respected journalist in the same context I use respected politician (like John McCain), someone we can both agree upon as an object of respect. Hope that clarifies my position for you, my friend.

Hmmm....would that be cause you believe he is a left wing journalist or Canadian? Either way, you appear to be bigoted. Hell, as much as I dislike GWB, I would have the dupe over for a meal.

A "repected journalist" is far better than a respected politician, and WINO, not a good idea about having the dope to meal. At some point ,in dinner conversation, you may well say something that would land you in a 'camp'!!
