The Crawfordian Candidate
I just saw the new version of the Manchurian Candidate and I kept thinking--that the Liev Shrieber brain washed automaton is GWB and his Mom is Dick Cheney. THen I read that GWB might be on anti-depressiants and that he never went through rehab. Now I am worried. Switzerland looks good.

I posted part of a discussion that Sen Byrd had with Charlie Rose of a dinner he Sen Stevens of Alaska and wives had with the Bushes early after inauguration He stated that he found Bush someone that he thougfht he could work with.

Soon after that he felt that Bush had completely changed. I thought then of this movie.

regardless of the personal vision of anyone who would be president, seems that the exisitng situations, power dynamics, and agendas so overhwelm the individual that any unique policies are ground into dust

there is no need for a manchurian candidate in my view (especially not the latest take on the classic)...the truely powerful already have nearly all the control that they need to insure their needs are met...setbacks like environmental safeguards and budget negotiatons are just the gloves of government...they don't do anything but protect and decorate its hands
