Big Liar Time Goebbels Is Alive And Well
« previous | Main
(August 03, 2004 -- 02:23 PM EDT)

George W. Bush, August 2nd 2004: “Let me talk about the intelligence in Iraq. First of all, we all thought we’d find stockpiles of weapons. We may still find weapons. We haven’t found them yet. Every person standing up here would say, 'Gosh, we thought it was going to be different.; As did congress, by the way. Member of both parties. And the United Nations. But what we do know is that Saddam Hussein had the capability of making weapons. And ... umm … but let me just say this to you. Knowing what I know today, we still would have gone on into Iraq. We still would have gone to make our country more secure. He had the capability of making weapons. He had terrorist ties. The decision I made was the right decision. The world is better off without Saddam Hussein in power.”

Just as I suspected - it made no difference one way or the other - Iraq was to be attacked, period! Does this confession make GWB a war criminal?

Surely, most people with at least one brain cell, have realised that the "Justifications" for the illegal invasion of Iraq, in direct contravention of UN Diktat, were hollow?

After all, the US Government had let at least two major contracts, one to Bechtel and the other to Halliburton, back in December 2003. Fact.

However, the "Decision" was not announced, finally, until months later........................

Apparently, Rumsfield had been urging an "invasion", read "sequestration of a third party sovereign state", for over two years!

And of course, despite the Butler Report and Hutton, BLiar, AKA, Bush's Poodle, still blythly maintains that the and his lying gang of cronies, are white as the driven snow.

SUCKS!

Paquadez,

I dont buy your assumptions about the corporate push to go to Iraq---We went to Iraq because neo-cons, through Dick Cheney, got the opportunity to see their philosophy come to fruitition thanks to a brain dead President with Freudian issues about father figures. Keep it simple Paqadez.

Also managed to find some Glen Grant single malt; Nice..................

Monsters under the bed?

If the Bush statement is not scary enough....there are those that understand it
It would be an interesting subject for a thread to examine --who was the the dumbest President to serve America?

I don't actually think that the relative "Dumbness" of any political leader (except an absolute dictator) is the problem, Fidelista.

The problem is that they cannot have absolute executive power: they have to have "Subordinates" to take critical decisions and implement policy.

If the leader fails to grasp what is actually happening, in their name and also fails to control their subordinates, effectively, well that's when the problems start.

Also, today, government is all invasive, as more and more inter-dependancy takes place.

It would be tough (read impossible) for any one person, to have absolute knowledge and hands-on control over such a dynamic structure.

So I conclude that a dumb leader shows this, by their choice of subordinates.

Particularly so in the case of Geo W and his ready adoption of his Pappie's old mates to senior position.

Of course you are correct, but have you ever observed and listened carefully to Mr Bush?. I have always had my doubts about him personally. Just a gut feeling.

Police officer: Well, your honor, I lied about the suspect having a gun, but I would have shot him anyway, because he could have bought a gun!

Judge: That's your defense?

Police officer: Yes!

As the noted novelist, Anthony Burgess stated, "You have to live outside a country to really understand it!"

My own view, is that Geo W is a sort of shambling moron, who is following in the footsteps of Daddy, even to the point, as I said before, of surrounding himself with various of Daddy's acolytes.

A statesman? No. A leader? No. A man of his times? No, rather, perhaps, a legend in his own lunchbreak.
