People on this board who wouldn't think of using racial or sexist epithets think nothing of throwing around curses of mental illness. They are as much of a minority as others and face extreme prejudice still.
There are other ways of describing errors in thinking without attribution of mental illness - such as "You got your head up your butt?" or "lay off that crack-pipe" Contortionists and drug users will need their own champion

Are you speaking of the Janissaries? If so, I never knew they were castrated...Yikes!

The Janissaries were mostly foreigners, they had many Nords among their ranks. The Arabs considered white Northmen to be very fine warriors.

WarC ActuallY I was probably confusing Janasarries and Mameluks. The latter were mostly non Moslem slaves often christian who were made into an elite calvary troop. In fact though many slaves in the Ottoman empire were castrated this did not seem to be a requirement for Mameluks since they semed to seize power and form dynasties. Or the castration requirement may have been only at one time.

BTW--got a niece that has manic-depressive illness and she comes to me when she needs a pep talk. You might be surprised at how empathetic Mulder can be when someone has a valid reason to claim the system leaves them behind.

And to set the record straight, "mental Illness" is a misnomer--most of it is the result of chemical imbalances in the brain--there is nothing wrong with the brain itself (there is of course some mental illness caused by brain injury). There will be dispute on that no doubt, but 100 years from now, or possibly longer, many of the mental illnesses that exists today will not exist due to advances in understanding the complexity of the delicate balance of chemistry in the human brain.
