It's the Supreme Court; stupid!
That is the real prize this time.

If the Right takes total control of the Supreme Court, Gays, Blacks, Women, Affirmative Action (which had benefited more white women than blacks or other minorities) gun control: all get "kicked to the (legal road kill) curb".

Corporate Lawyers are slavering at the chops, waiting their turn to ravage the taxpayers with the giant tax loopholes the Republican Congress will open up.

Congress will force your children and grandchildren to pray in school, educational funds will be cut, property taxes rolled back to the degree some medium and small communities will go bankrupt.
Our roads and bridges, tunnels, the environment, automobile safety regs, gasoline emission regs, all are in danger.
You ain't seen the dangerous guns that will flood our markets if the Assault weapons ban is lifted.
Quote:
A. 51 of every 100 people who die from gunshot wounds kill themselves
B.Six of every 10 law enforcement officers who die form firearms trauma kill themselves
C. 1,500 teens under 18 years old kill themselves with firearms every year
D. If a woman is to die from firearms trauma, 9 of every 10 times she will be killed by her sleeping partner, not by a stranger.
*(but my own seven firearms (1 custom .45 caliber "Brown" gun, 1 S&W .357 revolver, 1, S&W .44 Special, 1, S&W .44 Magnum, 1 Remington 870 .12 gauger pump, one Marlin 36" Goose Gun) will be even safer from any government confiscation)

But our cities and states will be forgiven when they screw over our elderly, our handicapped: hell real crooks (in the form of friends of local politicians, ("ENRON" anyone?) will ravage government coffers.
You think prescriptions are high now? Just you wait: some of our elderly will simply die because they can't afford their medication once the price controls on prescription drugs are lifted.

Laws we have taken for granted like the clean air act, forestry preservation:
(Hell, as this is being typed, Japanese and European furniture makers are licking their chops over all that virgin, old growth forests timber they'll rip out of our soil, them getting the raw timber and sending it back to us as value added furniture) gone or change to the point they are no longer efficacious.

Don't get me started on what the pharmaceutical and chemical companies are going to do when price restrictions are relaxed. Food prices will skyrocket as farmers pay higher cost for machinery, fertilizer, seed.
Worse for ourselves and the unborn and waiting in the wings are all those hybrid, steroid enhanced, genetically modified seeds waiting to be dumped in our farm fields. Unregulated, pesticide infested produce will flood into our cities.

My five adult daughters and two adult granddaughters will be denied the right to control their bodies. Abortions? You will see them stop and any doctor foolish enough to perform surreptitious abortions will be imprisoned for murder.

Tens of thousands of women will die, needlessly.

So go ahead, stupid, keep talking about Dumb as a Dunkin' Donut Dubya and Vietnam/medals or who did what. All that is a freaking huge smoke screen for the real action: the takeover of the Supreme Court by the Right and Christian Conservatives.

Mulder-PaveFE-LAN et.al.-are blowing smoke geysers up your arses, forcing you to talk about the things that really, in the very end do not matter one Tinker's dam.

It's the Supreme Court: STUPID.

Wel if you ask Mulder, the reason th elderly can't afford their prescriptions is they didn't work hard enough or make enough money or save enough in their youth

Valley I think he means the controls will be made worse, which means that if bush is elected then things will get twice as bad for those who need these prescription drugs

No, actually I said I supported a national prescription drug program, but with government as purchaser, not as controller. The purchasing power of the Federal Government will then be like Canada and have the ability to bargain for significantly lower prices. The drugs should be made affordable ($20 co-pays or something like that) and the difference between the purchased price and the co-pay being paid with, are your ready, Mulder's taxes!

Ed, I hate to disillusion ya, but the court has been conservative for about 20 years or so now. And so long as the Senate remains divided, there is no way Bush or any other conservative will get anyone but a moderate judge appointed. As usual, your much more hysterical than logical. Did you miss a pill this morning?

Where's your support for that, Valley? If a person is that poor, they should qualify for Medicaid and have prescriptions paid.

Well the only thing wrong with that is if the "government" is in bed together, like bush is with the drug companies. There needs to be a separate party that would make sure things are kept above board and honest.

In a perfect world

Medicaid does not pay for everything. They usually pay a percentage. Now if you are very poor, and have to pay for other things like rent, food, insurance, then even if Medicaid pays for half, that is still a big burden because half of "a very over priced drug" is still a lot. My mother takes a cancer drug that cost over 250.00 each month! 125.00 X 12= $1500.00 a year for just this one drug! That's a lot of moola for an elderly person, and think if they had more than one drug to buy

In Ontario, if you are poor (ie. a low income family) but don't want to go on WELFARE, you have no prescription coverage at all. The Ontario Drug Benefit Plan is only available to those who wish to participate in Ontario Works (Welfare) or those people that are on Disability. There are many 'common' medications that are not covered under this plan. There is the Trillium Fund available (which I've never been able to figure out), but there, you must pay up front for medication and then get a percentage reimbursed.

It's the Supreme Court; Stupid
That is the real prize this time.

If Kerry gets elected he will appoint liberal socialist who will legislate from the bench for life without any control by the people who have no say in their appointment.

There will copulating homosexuals in the street.

Taxes will rise to 90% to pay for those who don't work (who would want to) and to pay for all the free drug prescriptions, free housing and free dental plans.

Drugs of the smoking kind will no longer be frowned upon but will be made mandatory. Crack will be handed out freely because "you have a basic Constitutional right against flop sweats."

Grades for your school children will be banned because "Johnny can't have a negative self image over failing basket weaving".

Farmers will go broke attempting to comply with the new draconian environmental laws that ban fertilizer under the new EPA motto: "You can only use it if Native Americans did".

Hey why practice birth control when the feds will be required to provide an abortion to you free, your right to copulate being a basic freedom.

Etc Etc Etc

It's the Supreme Court,Stupid

That sounds like Ed's kind of court!--just as long as they make sexual innuendo illegal!
