Informational thread only Boycotting Sinclair
This is not meant to be a discussion of the merits of the Sinclair airing that is already present.
There is a movement over the internet to start a boycott of Sinclair Broadcasting. And especially a notification to advertisers on this network that we will boycott them if they continue to use this network.

I am actually interested in this both in its aim and also as an innovation of the internet following up on the Dean contribtion movement.
Sinclair vs Bloggers is like old and new Europe
This site:
http://www.boycottsbg.com/
provides information on Sinclair affiliates and advertisers. Some successes are already noted.
Many other blogs are interested, including

Chicky this is certainly something to do.
A couple of days ago a reader at talkingpoint memo, who is in the business talked about the power of going after the sales managers who hold power especially in these smaller market stations

"Local Sinclair reps are suggesting that callers call their corporate HQ. But, believe me, don't waste your time.

The key is to identify their local advertisers and contact them. You can find information out here or, if you're in a Sinclair market, just watch the evening news show and mark down who the advertisers are. Then contact them directly -- and if possible, place a call. Or better yet, send an old-fashioned paper letter. Actually, scratch that, do both.

For good measure, it's great to tell the sales manager what you're doing. But if your message to the advertiser is successful they'll be taking the matter up with the sales manager directly. And he or she will definitely be taking their call."

I am waiting to get on the dailykos board which requires a wait.
then I want to go after Pfeizer whose products I do use. The way to them I think is to try and get folks to talk to their docs about changing out of pfeiser products where possible and ask the doc to get back to the Pfeizer detail person (drug pusher)

Here is a copy of the letter that I received from one of the petitions that I signed:

Quote:
First, thank you for signing the petition against Sinclair.

Here's what else you can do:

E-mail your friends and tell them to vote at www.StopSinclair.org

Contact the Sinclair station near you and tell them to STOP. Find the station in your area:

http://www.sbgi.net/business/television.shtml

Contact your senators and representative in Washington and tell them to address this issue on the floor of Congress. Find your senators here:

http://www.senate.gov.

Find your representative here:

http://www.house.gov.

Contact Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who criticized Sinclair when they refused to air Nightline. Ask him to stand up to Sinclair again:

http://mccain.senate.gov/index.cfm?f...n=Contact.Home

Contact Michael Powell, FCC Chairman, and tell him to STOP Sinclair:

Michael.Powell@fcc.gov

Keep fighting for the TRUTH about John Kerry!

I have contacted all the advertisers in swing state markets---Informed them I will never purchase another thing from then and that I will do everything in my power to see that everyone I know doesn't either.
