I voted today!
Okay, I actually dropped my absentee ballot in the mail Friday, but it was after the mail got picked up (and I forgot to start this thread). But the fact is, I casted my ballot for the President of the United States of America, and today, the mailman picked it up.

Who else had voted so far?

I vote tomorrow - early voting starts at 8AM 10/18/04 - not that my vote will count - live in a solid bloody crimson state and expect Bush to win 65 to 35% - anything less than that percentage will be encouraging - will mean even the carpetbaggers, rednecks and deceased are becoming more intelligent.

Take an emergency leave and go home to vote. Or contact either the local GOP or DEM office and tell them you think you are being dis-enfranchised - both will jump thru their butts if they think you are voting for them - who knows, we may see you, Sarge, on national TV telling the world about being denied the chance to vote. If you wait much longer, your vote will not exist.

BTW, read an article in Saturdays local rag by Matthew Kelly of Hearst Newspapers that the ratio of military favor poll was 2:1 for Bush and they were not allowed to ask party affiliation as it WAS illegal to do so. The poll also polled their family members and the families ratio was just slightly less than the active military, reservist, national guard.

Sarge--You can hand deliver a voting form in New York on the day of the election. If you need one, let me know and I can pick one up for you and mail it to you overnight---You of all people should not be disenfranchised. By the way, read the NYTimes Magazine article on Bush today---unbelieveable.

PM me if you want me to pick you up a form.

There is absolutely no way my unit is going to let me take leave at this time unless, God forbid, death in my family. I must vote here in Georgia.

Will you not be in town on election day?

Here I think you can pick up a ballot rather than wait for them to mail it to you.

Sarge ~ First, call the registrar in NY and try to get a conformation that your absentee ballot was received and therefore counted.

Second, with your time in Georgia, it may be necessary to vote there. You are correct, the NY office should have informed you of that...bureaucracy, go figure. You should follow this up with both offices, to make sure your vote counts!

Good luck!
