Question Police and prisons
Hi I'm doing a report on Police and prisons corruption in Canada,US,Mexico and Cuba okay so thats start with Canada vs US ..I find Canada laws more relex vs US laws okay that me explain that say you set a house on fire here in Canada is 6 months or if you kill some one it is 20 years in Canada or pulic intox a day in jail or ticket now smoking drugs or drinking in public in Canada a ticket..Now in Canada most of the cops are not mean and don't hurt people and there strick laws that the cops can not hurt people..

Now in the US laws not has relex okay that me explain that say you set a house on fire or B&E or robbery you do more time or if you kill some one you do life now pulic intox a day in jail or smoking drugs or drinking in public a day in jail or ticket,Now the doing drugs seem to differ some states it is a ticket or small jail time others you in jail longer .Okay I know the state of Nevada and California wants to make smoking pot legal but some how it is in the wait and congress is still ati-smoking pot I know smoking pot for med is legal .

Now the most of the cops are not mean and don't hurt people but there more powers to the cops that can be more bossy and telk down to you and can hurt in the take down ..

Now Cuba has very low crime because there is no rich or poor people and people live simple life like every one in Cuba .But do know that when I was in high school there was family that use to go to Cuba had it was legal for pulic intox or smoking pot.

But the Police and prisons I have no idea or any thing about Mexico..

Your thread was a little hard to follow. Your spelling of words maybe correct. However, check your word usage......

Look up the Muriel boat lift.

Crimes in Cuba are divided into felony and
misdemeanor offenses. Felony crimes are those
with a potential sentence exceeding one year
imprisonment or a fine of more than 300 cuotas.
(Cuotas are units of a fine that have variable
value. Thus, one person may be subject to a fine
of 100 cuotas at one peso each while another may
be subject to the same fine but at a rate of two
pesos per cuota.) Offenses that meet this
standard are prosecuted in provincial courts.
Less serious misdemeanor offenses are adjudicated
in municipal courts and carry maximum penalties
below the one-year/300-cuota level.
Felony-equivalent crimes in Cuba encompass a
standard array of offenses against persons or
property including murder, rape, assault, death or
injury by vehicle, robbery, burglary, larceny,
vehicle theft, arson, and drug trafficking.
Except for murder, rape, and robbery, each of
these offenses also has a less serious,
misdemeanor equivalent.
In addition to standard crimes against
persons, property and social order, the Cuban
penal code enumerates various offenses against
socialist organization. Central among these are
misuse of employment in a state enterprise for
illegal personal gain (malversacion), obtaining
money or property illegally channeled from some
state economic venture (receptacion), trading in
foreign currency (trafico de divisas), slaughter
and distribution of livestock outside the
socialist distribution system (sacrificio ilegal),
and attempting to leave the country without
complying with formal emigration requirements
(salida ilegal). Rather than being occasional
crimes, these offenses constitute a regular part
of the criminal case load in Cuba.

* Drug offenses. Cuba's drug prohibition is broad
and nonspecific. Under Cuban law it is a felony
to produce, sell, or possess with intent to sell
any "toxic drug, or hallucinogenic, hypnotic, or
narcotic substance, or any other substance with a
similar effect." The penalty for this offense is
3 to 8 years of imprisonment. Simple
possession of illegal drugs is punishable by 6
months to 2 years imprisonment.

Can't speak for Canada or Cuba, but can guarantee the last place you ever want to be in jail is Mexico, or for that matter, anywhere south of the Rio Grande River to the tip of So. America. I spent a few hours in a holding cell in Nuevo Laredo and in La Paz, Baja Calf. - convinced me I did not want to go any deeper into the Mexican judicial system.

In Nuevo Laredo I was an innocent bystander (sorta, kinda - just helped my friend pull his trousers up after he took a dump on main street) albeit, drunk!- in La Paz, Baja, a victim of an over zealous Mexican immigration officer while trying to board a ferry for Mazatlan. I was innocent on both occasions - just no one believed me - go figure!

Unfortunately, Mexican law works the opposite of U.S. There you are guilty until you prove yourself innocent.

wait, what's so different
