Osama Bin Laden ruined my career
i was in 11th grade when 9/11 happened. i was an above average student; not a prodigy or something. just before my midterm exams, i had to leave the country for a few days because i had been awarded a permanent visa, and had to leave and re-enter the UAE to get resident status. well, i was born here, but what do they care? anyway, i leave the country, and BAM! disaster strikes new york. the blue blooded arab royals get a chance for some covert and systematic ethnic cleansing and they do it! my residence visa is cancelled. i cant go back to the UAE. im stuck in pakistan, where i cant go to school, the education system is different and lacks any sort of quality. only quantity. so, i wait, and i wait. the arabs finally lift the ban on pakistanis entering the country. i go back home, and i cant get back to school, because as the stupid arab law states, im over-age for my class. so i give my o levels board exams through a private institution. and then i apply to schools here for a levels [final high school year]. they say i cant go to school in this country because the government doesnt except exams from private institutions. so i spend another 1000$ and fly back home, and try to get admission as a private candidate there. tough luck. i waste another year, and 3 trips worth 6000$ between the uae and pakistan. this year, 2004, i get admission in a pakistani school, which works on the british curriculum. i study there, but living away from family seems unbearable in a country where the crime rate is a sort of vertical market. i go back home. [another air trip. and they say airlines lost business coz of 9/11]. now im here in the uae, and have exhausted the following options:

admission to a local school/college/university. the government wont let me in.

admission to a local campus of an american/british/canadian/australian university. they dont teach my subject here.

going to usa/canada. theres plenty of oppurtunities, plenty of universities, good environment, but osama bin laden has made immigration almost impossible.

going to australia. same as above.

going to uk/europe. too expensive. we cant afford it. plus id have a language problem.

any other viable alternatives? no? id rather shoot myself in the head than wait another year for some genie to pop out from somewhere...

Think for yourself
Question authority
Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we dont know who we are or where were going in this ocean of chaos, its been the authorities, the political, religious, educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, forming in our minds their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and put yourself in a state of vulnerable open-mindedness.

Perhaps you have pursued the wrong avenue with individuals who may not really care about what happens. You stated you have talked to US Officials. Who are these US Officials you have talked to? Perhaps we Americans can also talk to these US Officials. It may or may not help but who knows until we try.

You can't get a student Visa? I know immigration is tough, but I thought temporary student Visas were much easier to get. You are given the right to be here to attend school only--you are not permitted to work.

Yes--you can attend high school, but you have to pay for it unless you can get it waived. Then you can attend college after that.

Immigation is easier once you get here on a Visa. If you can find a company willing to higher you, etc.

Learn spanish, fly to Mexico, walk across the border. We will educate you for free, give you free medical care and then say "All is forgiven, you can stay."

For Australia, the following websites could be useful:

About the registered courses:
