Yes Mulder is a Jersey boy from the east coast and has a tongue in cheek sense of humor and "in your face" attitude.
He moved very far away but will always have the Jersey in him.

Dude if you find that offensive don't ever visit the East coast in the US, it's not meant to be rude but is perceived that way by outsiders.

alan, here's the deal. You riled up old Mulder, and well, you got what you asked for. If you piiss me off, I am going to go balls to the walls at you too. What your asking for is a bit immature, don't you think. You are asking us to take sides. Go after him, surprisingly, if you can give him enough facts, you may be able to sway him, or at least get him to respect you( see the Drivers licenses for illegal aliens thread), however, if you give opinion he is going to eat you up. He's a lawyer, he doesn't give a crap about opinions, he wants the facts, all the facts, and nothing but the facts, in facts, that is what I want also, except that i also want a Slurpee included with my facts.
Also remember that he is going to bait and name call you. Its a common tactic to keep the other person off balance and make a more emotional argument, rather than a rational one.
Good luck, fight back, and ask Wet Chicken if you can join his support group.

Not to mention the quote is taken completely out of context to make it appear as though I'm trying to squelch his thought--nothing like "rigging the question!"

Good grief. I don't know the history behind this post, but it had better not go downhill or I'll be fast to close it.

when i started the thread i read the sticky about being polite and making points rather than name calling etc. i thought it applied to everybody .

i'm a bit concerned that anyone thinks it's a good or healthy idea to eliminate others points of view . i would have thought a lawyer would feel he had the necessary tools to argue a case - hence my turn to the poll to seek a jury's opinion .
i thought it would be a bit of fun too as you guys are in the voting theme today .

i'm not bothered that he's a lawyer - that means he's intelligent but intelligence doesn't make anyone knowledgeable - . as far as facts are concerned i shot his down repeatedly ( an internet search , cut and paste is no substitute for knowledge ) - he used 1 yr old and 18 mth old accounts of life in iraq to try to prove a point regarding the situation today .
he demonstrated little knowledge with regard to libya's sanctions , north korea and several other areas all of which he introduced into the debate .
when i answered his questions on what experience i had to qualify my argument and asked him to answer the same i got no response .

i'm sure you're right and he's using the skills of his job to provoke /avoid / twist but i thought i started a thread under a heading " civilised debate " and i thought that's what i was going to have .

We're like The Human Mob, you have to give us a sense of direction or your just gonna get chaos! Explaining what exactly you guys were talking about in the first place would help...Afterall, a jury cannot decide without evidence!

WoW a poll to determine if Mulder is right

Don't need a poll for that -- I can tell you that he is in-deed more right than left. Even when he is left...he is still right, just not as far as when he is right on the right.

You know what I mean, right?

The problem is that you publically called for a taking of sides, something that would eb construed a a personal attack. I have seen personal attacks on members, but this one was far more civilized, less damaging, but was put out in the forum. I really don't think Mulder cares about this, but in response to him posting 18 mos. old information, was it the most recent stuff he could find.
I'll be honest with you, i think alot of people will just lie back and watch other people take on other people instead of jumping into the fray. Its more fun and easier to follow. I haven't posted in that thread, to the best of my knowledge, but I do agree with Mulder on this, so be prepared to have lots of people question and debate you for your thoughts.
I personally think Mulder is being extremely easy on you as you are somewhat new. He is being considerate that way.
BTW, I am being extremely easy on you for not jumping in on your thread. I would guess, with all due respect to Mulder, that my knowledge of AFP and Middle Eastern politics, along with terrorism, is better than Mulders(its what I studied, so don't get ruffled Mulder , so I wouldn't necessarily do threads like this anymore, as they can be used against you as well.
Just my dos centavos, and in case I haven't said it before, Welcome to TSG.

the thread has been taken off in many different directions anyway , few directly related to my core question .

i'm not launching any personal attack on mulder , i came in for a debate .

Alan, I am not saying that this is a personal attack on Mulder, and even it was, Wet Chicken, amongst others ( Edgreene) have done far, far worse. What I was trying to convey that this could be interpreted as a personal attack.

Thing is these other countries like Libya and Korea and Iran saw the US invade Iraq and immediately thought to themselves, "What's to stop them from doing the same to us if we don't cooperate with disarmament?". Well, since that time, you know what's entered the equation--you and other liberals whining incessantly--they've seen the pressure the passificists can bring. If we could eliminate your type of thought, we'd get a lot more accomplished because people like Kadafi or that little putz from Korea understand only one language and that's the language George W. Bush speaks. If Kerry were President, Hussein would stil be in power, the middle east would be no closer to peace and we'd be at UN resolution 38 or whatever that Hussein just thumbed his nose at. Every other dangerous country would see the UN is all bark and no bite and do nothing to cooperate.

With GW--people see teeth--not just bark. That's makes all the difference in the world, but not something I would expect a pacifist to understand

end quote

there's the full post mulder .

the poll isn't about the point you were making but about whether it's right in a democracy to " eliminate someone's type of thought " .

context was not required .
