Cool gifts
so...it's pretty quiet around here for the moment, and i just wanted to take a sec and start a thread about gifts.....cause i got one that really tickled my fancy.....

first off, i've made it REAL clear to everyone i know that i don't want stuff for christmas....i come from a large extended family that gets together pretty often, and we "did" christmas last night....i love 'em, but that group is a madhouse for about an hour, with everybody having bought gifts for everyone else....mostly useless garbage, justified only by that old adage "it's the thought the counts"....

hogwash.....

except this morning, there was a little package for me on the front porch, from the family that has recently taken on half the care and feeding of our horses in exchange for the rights of their two young daughters to ride our welsh pony....they do mornings now, and i do evenings, and i see 'em sporadically when i'm delivering hay up to the corrals in my truck......

so what gift did i get?....a salt and pepper shaker set....one part the truck, with the other part some bales of hay that fit into the back of the truck.....

useless garbage?...well, yeah....we've already got a salt and pepper shaker.....but this gift touched me, just the same......

merry material christmas

what'd ya all get that made ya happy?

Very nice gift---! My daughter gave me this really funny book called the Bush Survival Bible! Here is a wonderful quote that pretty much sums it up:

"First, let me make it very clear, poor people aren't necessairly killers. Just because you happen to be not rich doesn't mean you are willing to kill"

I got black fuzzy slippers ...just what I asked for. All they need is googly eyes to make them look really silly.
Oh yes, and I have 3 hours of NO KIDS this afternoon!
Now that's a present!

LOL--hey, the kid is what he is-----but maybe its a good sign. The right wingers in here like to say that being conservative is something that comes with maturity. Maybe he will become more liberal as he gets older! But then again--maybe my daughter will become more conservative! LOL-------merry xmas!

LOL Yay us! We should party! My kids told me I should have a nap, as I've been awake all night, but that sounds so dull and a waste of my free time.
I'll just have a wee party in my head
Have a great day everyone and try to play nice

Nah....his PARENTS gave me that gift. He always sucked at gifts, unless I told him what to buy for me....AND gave him the money for them.
Btw, he is my ex.

The best present I got wasn't really even for me. Gabzilla got her first "big girl" bike and just watching her ride and whoop and yell out of pure glee was the best present ever. And after riding down the hill in front of her Nana's house and braking just as she got within inches me, she looks up at me and says, "Are you proud of me?" Of course I was. What a perfect little angel.

My best present was a book called "Aircraft Design: A Conceptual Approach". For a tech-addict like me, this is a very interesting book, which seems to have all the information you need to design a working aeroplane. And not just little home-built aeroplanes either.
