William H. Gates.
This article from under the long white cloud, found by chance:

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/index.cfm?...jectID=9006037

followed by a scrutiny of this:

http://www.microsoft.com/billgates/bio.asp

and a search in this forum, and specifically so, yielding no results, prompts me to remedy that situation.

methinks the point is that when you have more money than you can even imagine, your true nature has an opprotunity to show itself.....that as ruthless a captialist as gates may be, he also understands the world he lives in.....

basically...he ain't all bad...

The point is, if I, or anyone else in this forum had that much money, I truely believe we would give a huge chunk of it away.

He gives a lot of $ away.

Gates has donated the proceeds of both books to non-profit organizations that support the use of technology in education and skills development.

Thats the point--My understanding is that Gates gives most of his money to world health issues---as far as educational technology goes, it helps Microsoft break into the classroom that was for many years controled by Apple.

that is also true, jack....as the owner, still, of an original mac, it took me a long time to accept the reality.....apple, with its pricing policies and its attitude of being the better machine...right or wrong....left itself wide open to aggressive market from gates....

all you see is the results....gates is just the henry ford of computers....
