Hello, I've been facing a strange kind of error quite often these days. It pops up when i start my computer(most of the time it doesn't) or when i restart my pc. There is this error(I dont know what it is) window that says something like"There is a folder named d:/PROGRAM in your d:/drive that may damage the d:/program files folder. Do you want to rename it?" I must add that my XP system files are installed in the d:/ drive rather than the c:/ drive as I have a dual OS pc(both win 98 and win xo)... so the important XP system files are in the Drive D:/. Anyways, if i click yes in the "Do you want to rename..." window a file named PROGRAM is saved in the d:/ drive that doesn't have any extention. I dont know what this file is for..but when i opened it with an word editor like Notepad there were the following contentes:-

where

adapter Connection name

(wildcard characters * and ? allowed, see examples)



Options:

/? Display this help message

/all Display full configuration information.

/release Release the IP address for the specified adapter.

/renew Renew the IP address for the specified adapter.

/flushdns Purges the DNS Resolver cache.

/registerdns Refreshes all DHCP leases and re-registers DNS names

/displaydns Display the contents of the DNS Resolver Cache.

/showclassid Displays all the dhcp class IDs allowed for adapter.

/setclassid Modifies the dhcp class id.



The default is to display only the IP address, subnet mask and

default gateway for each adapter bound to TCP/IP.



For Release and Renew, if no adapter name is specified, then the IP address

leases for all adapters bound to TCP/IP will be released or renewed.



For Setclassid, if no ClassId is specified, then the ClassId is removed.



Examples:

> ipconfig ... Show information.

> ipconfig /all ... Show detailed information

> ipconfig /renew ... renew all adapters

> ipconfig /renew EL* ... renew any connection that has its

name starting with EL

> ipconfig /release *Con* ... release all matching connections,

eg. "Local Area Connection 1" or

"Local Area Connection 2"

I dont know if this is an error regarding my lan connection or not(it appears so)..but why doesn't it happen in Win 98? And there's one more thing...mostly after this error message my login/logoff screen changes from the default BLUE one to the windows classic one(u know that BOERING box thing)..... this seems to be an error too.Although i can fix the LOgin/logoff problem with softs like "stylexp" that restores the original login/logoff screen...but my question is why the hell is this happening???CAn someone PLEASSSEEE>>Solve this for me?? Thankz a lot guys...

I remember those times very well, I think you are probably very young and don't
realize what you are doing. That symbol has been banned from being displayed even in Germany, so get rid of that avatar and you might receive some help.

Mr. Dave i appreciate your response..but let me tell you some stories... I'm from a very poor country in south-east asia..actually the poorest also sometimes known as "BANGLADESH"(u western front vetrans probably dont know bout us...we are so puny)...I'm a college boy as you have predicted before...and your advices seem obsolete. I had an email into TechGuy before this war outbroke.

It will be his ultimate decision regarding the avatar. Once things are decided, I'll split the ORIGINAL post into another thread.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I am not going to attempt to take 'right' and 'wrong' sides here. I think the issue is overblown myself, but that is just my opinion.

Hey man i liked your style.... i really like this forum cuz this one time i was stuck with win 98 ans some south american dude in the forum helped me out.... But sometimes i cant believe the bullism that some SEniOR(!) members cast upon...man the seniors are here to clarify...not to Stereotype!!! you have a good command of the english language, and express yourself well...your view will cause a heated debate, no doubt, here in civ deb....personally, your avatar is not that big of a deal to me...but dave is right....you're only causing problems for yourself, because the symbol, as you describe its meaning to you, is not the way it will be looked at.....

so stick around in civ deb and make your case, but change the avatar so you are not prejudged

The Original Meaning

The word "swastika" comes from the Sanskrit svastika - "su" meaning "good," "asti" meaning "to be," and "ka" as a suffix.

Until the Nazis used this symbol, the swastika was used by many cultures throughout the past 3,000 years to represent life, sun, power, strength, and good luck.

Now the swastika offends many and imply's racism etc....many aryans use to it help spread bigotry and hatred. It is despised for a good reason and is totally repulsive to see as an avatar, reminding us of the sickness of Hitler and racism to this day, it offends most people and if you don't want to be offended in return, I suggest you remove it, some things are not tastefull to put up publically, out of respect for the dead or whatever.

good points, the main thing is what offends members in here, If I put up a scantly clad female pic in here some will be offended. The swastika offends some people in even more disturbing ways than a pic like that doesn't it?

Good god.... i havent received so much response when i posted in several forums the problems i faced in the past..... Why are ppl so much angry..tormented about this thing!!! MAN I AM NO WAY AN ARYAN...I FACT I'M SO MIXED THAT MY BLOOD HAS A DEEP CRIMSON COLOUR....I HATE THE NAZIS...I HATE THEM..I HATE THEM....Oh well if this avtar is so offensive to soooo many ppl i'd just take em off..but i dont have some good avatars right now in my pc...and im a little short of time to get one...so could you ppl please consider this avtar a non-nazi... anti-nothing cote-de-arms for a few more days???If you like i would tell some of my hindu friends to stop drawing this Mosaic of Evil in their cheeks when their traditional "VhisNU" prayer starts...and i'd stop playing "blitzkreig :buring horizon" because of all the disturbing Swastica's it contains..
