Exclamation Firefox - A New Religion?
Firefox - A New Religion?

Is Firefox a bad web browser? No. Is it the next coming of the Almighty? According to some it would seem that way. It is one thing recommending a program, it is entirely another to preach about something as if you were part of a religious cult
LOL.

I use Firefox strictly for tabbed browsing and slightly better security. However, I agree with you, these Firefox people are true believers, almost as bad as the minions of Steve Jobs.

linsky, careful there... that is Mister Sir Steve Jobs, thank you very much...

seriously, I guess its kinda like being in a desert wasteland, being attacked by mean nasty beasts in the dark, and then along comes a light, be it Apple or Firefox or whatever that is different, appears better, and/or offers an improved manner of doing something. So, yea,,, guess it could be like a religion...

Right now I'm using FireFox. The claims of better security are a natural draw, but the biggest reason right now is the tabbed browsing. The way I do searches, the way I refer back to a particular site, FF is just more convenient.
I'll go back to IE when it appears to have an advantage for me.
As to site rendering, there is only one site I view that FF has trouble with, and it doesn't offset the convenience of the tabs. If it's that big a problem, I'd just open that page with IE.

I've tried other tabbed browsers built on the IE engine....Maxthon.....liked it less than IE and FF.

As far as http://poptech.blogspot.com/2005/01/...-religion.html
Well, it is a blog .......and appears to be as slanted as much against open source as Linux users are against MS , IMHO.
(see Link

I suspect Mozilla doesn't honk it's own horn (advertising) with any less effort than Gates.
It is called advertising.
Your choice

Although not directly tied to the issue of browsers,
this is an interesting read:

firefox, is amazing. i could never go back to IE, not that i don't like IE but firefox is better, plus most sites are designing with firefox in mind, and since IE and Firefox disply some sites differant my site is designing strickly for firefox, and at the bottom its going to say "site best viewed in firefox" with a little firefox button.

There is an extension available for Fire Fox that allows you to view pages in IE---it comes in handy.
