We went down this past weekend to the Red River Gorge area to find a 'not so well known' area. The cave was fairly wet, yes sandstone...had to drop gear in the first chamber because the rest were separated by a water passage. There were a few cave-spiders, but that was it as far as creatures went. Some minor vertical...but what I found in the cavern was too much even for me to dare...found a 3x5x? sink in there, but did not bring repelling gear with. The lights were not powerful enough to penetrate the depths of the darkness -- I suspect it is an additional waterway and possibly another entrance

very very after reading some about deaths of 4 in UT cave, arguments about pros/cons of removing old treated wood from previous tour caves and disagreements over priority of bat protection methods, 'tis good to read of just a little fun trip. Thanks!

G'night/morn'... the elusive hobbes now leaves his workplace office, preparing to fire up the willing red Celica chariot, with sound emitting from both tailpipe and its multiple speaker system, the latter being powered by radio waves bouncing back to terra firma after colliding upon floating man-made stars, as the rubber encased wheels take him down the road, where he will surely acquire some vittles to feed his growling insides, before retiring to the hotel, to read the daily papers, study some work material, and then collapse after rinsing under a blazing hot shower. And then awaken to slay new and recurring dragons the following morn'... aaaaaaaah... me brain is starting to speak in hyperbolish language. Best go hurry and go grub grabbing. Later POTTS!

Yes, so sad about those in the UT cave -- that one left me with quite some questions...if it was a 15ft passage underwater...with a guide rope, and four people...did they all panic?

Yeah...it was a fun trip! I would like to go back soon and check out that sinkhole passage -- but when I checked on my 200ft rope, seem I have some mice in the barn that found it to be a rather nice home
