I don't hate Catholics either, Mulder; but I have an aversion for the institution called the Roman Church, self styled "Catholic Church," because I see it as an ancient, corrupt organization that sells God's mercy to the gullible. Along with Ovid, I was say, "Tempus edax rerum." I also have an aversion to Zionism, but I have no aversion to individual Jews or Judaism. In fact, one of my favorite writers is Philo of Alexandria, or Philo of Judeah. His exegesis of Genesis is a mind opener.
Apparently St Jerome either had different manuscripts or he chose to rewrite sections of Genesis. Neither the Douhay-Rheims or the King James version follows Philo either, choosing, I suppose to follow Saint Jerome. As Saint Augustine wrote in the City of God, "Know that all men are liars, but neither love them, nor shun them the less." Mulder, I think you tend to simplify the complex relations between man and the world. The Yin and the Yang are not black and white.
