Angry China
Why is Bush allowing the greedy company's in the USA to send all the good paying job's to China? Last I knew China was a communist country?
This one really has me confused and upset.

Thanks
Cowboy

I wouldn't call them good paying jobs--most of them are blue collar jobs, and guess what, it keeps the price of your Nikes low! Isn't that what it's all about?

linskyjack, how is a $200.00 pair of gym shoes cheap? China is gearing up for war and is using US currency to buy the stuff they need to defeat us.
The US government is going to give Westinghouse 5 billion (yes with a "B") dollars to build a nuclear power plant in China. Why do the American taxpayers have to pay for this?

Bush is on his way to making Jimmy Carter look like Ben Franklin.

It's just like everything else. It all boils down to money for the greedy people.
When will we ever learn?

I went from a job as a Electronics Tech. at $18.00 per hour, with full benefits, in a factory to a Master Control Operator for a TV station at less than half of what I was making and no benefits. Thanks to sending the job's to China.

Wake up !! China is a communist country !!

There is something wrong here.

Space Cowboy, that's it in a nut shell. This president/republicans have sold their soles to big business. But don't forget the democrats are just as bad. Especially the senate.

Prospect pretty much everything we use is mfgr over seas--much of it in China. Why do you think our rate of inflation has been so low--because they don't pay their workers very well. Not all Nike's cost 200 bucks. Like Space cowboy says--its all about cheap goods and corporate profits. Most American mfgr jobs left America years ago.

linskyjack, all this government is doing is transferring our wealth to cheap over seas labor markets. There's no way in hell American workers can compete with a labor force the size of India/China who's workers get paid Penny's on the dollar.

Pretty soon Americans won't be able to buy there junk, because we will be a thirld world cesspool.

Hey, I wont argue that point---in this global economy its about keeping costs low so that you can compete with the other guy. I use to work for a company in LIC, New York----a great American company, founded by an immigrant and built into a monster. Guess where all those jobs went about ten years ago----Mexico! Why? Because they couldn't compete with other companies that had already moved their mfgr plants overseas. The American worker gets shafted---

They are waging an economic war against us and we are helping them win! Every American that buys a product made in China is giving them a little boost. just my cents worth. david

I like the part that after the jobs went to Mexico, they then moved to China because the Mexicans workers were making too much! We have to start to vote these jerks out of office now!
That means crossing party lines if need be.

How does the Government, in a Free Market Capitalist system, allow, or disallow, companies to trade with whomever they like, and have their offices, manufacturing etc in whatever part of the world they want?
Surely the Govt. stepping in and regulating how business works is at the socialist/communist end of the scale?

That'll fall on deaf ears blackspike.

What we are seeing now is inherent to the free market system. Companies are squeezed ever more tightly and they have to move manufactoring overseas where they can pay less to staff.

So what is it America? Do you want cheap clothes, shoes, bikes, electronics, etc. etc. or do you want jobs? It's up to you.

But Americans still need a job to buy those clothes, shoes etc. Even if there are going to be some extra people on social assistance. Someone has to pay the taxes so those un-employed can get the social assistance.

There is right now a bill to reduce import duty on USA goods shipped to Columbia. This could only help manufacturing jobs in the USA.
The duty on goods from Columbia were previously reduced as an incentive for that country to reduce drug trafficing.
The democratic congressional leader refuses to bring that bill to a vote-where it would likely pass because of the benefits to USA workers.
The democratic managers are specifically making efforts to hold back any proposals that will derail a recession, because it will be impossible to regain the white house unless our economy is in shambles in November when we vote.
