Do you support a US military victory in Iraq
Ya see, THIS is how the poll should be worded, Bassetman.

In the interest of accuracy, and simply because I want a truthful discussion, I will not make this a public poll.

Do you support neither a political or military victory for the US in Iraq?
Do you support only a political victory, and not a military victory?
Do you support both military AND political victories?

Stalin was correct. Now who wants to undermine patriotism, morality, and spirituality?

Pretty stupid poll considering the fact that Bush already proclaimed victory.

I notice you didn't answer the poll, Linsky.

Edit:
Well, not that there's 2 votes counted, perhaps you have.

An alliance with the new Iraqi government assuring the free flow of oil at market prices .... for starters.

A military victory by itself being a ceasession of insurgent attacks, but not necessarily an alliance with the new Iraqi government.

Have to skip your poll as I understand it.
I only back a military victory under the circumstances of oil contracts being involved in a political victory.........that's been my issue(edit--or at least one of them ) from day one.

You should offer a military option as a separate standalone choice.

A very fair, and thoughtful response as usual.

If I am to understand what you just wrote, you support mandatory oil contracts to pay for the war.
(like Wolfy promised the senate when this all started)
Is that correct, or did I read you wrong?

You read me entirely wrong.
Currently, I'm of the mind that there is practicaly no way the Iraqis are going to be able to pay off the expenses of the US invading their country, expelling Saddam, expelling al Qaeda, stopping the internal domestic terrorist, and preventing a civil war.
Iraq's economy basically is one product.......crude oil. It will need the full economic resources of that one commodity to reestablish a society.

You might consider 'biting the bullet' and doing the right/best thing in this case and excusing the debt.

Manipulating oil contracts has been a topic at TSG before. That's how oil men get rich and that's been viewed as the primary reason for Bush invading Iraq,by many members at TSG.........control of their oil.......So,no.....I don't support stuffing the pockets of Bush, Wolfie or the Dick with oil contracts.....

I am glad to hear you say that. I agree, that if we went there to do the right thing, then we must allow them the freedom to use their oil revenues to rebuild their destroyed country, if that is their choice.

We share that thought.

I agree almost totally.
I haven't a problem with fair oil contracts for American businesses.
One must face the fact that if US contractors don't get those contracts, then someone else outside of Iraq will.

I agree about excusing the Iraqi debt. That should go a long way toward building a lasting alliance with the Iraqi people.

The contracts should be awarded by the Iraqi government. I think it would send a poor signal if a good percentage of those contracts don't get awarded to American companies.
