Good Luck America! Galloway is on His Way!
This should be quite interesting. The British MP George Galloway, who was found guilty by a Senate commitee of recieving oil from Saddam, without even asking him for his side of the story, is on his way to Washington to face his accusers.

In case you haven't seen it, the report HERE states that Geroge Galloway and a French minister recieved oil allocations from Saddam's government. However as far as I can see the report uses the flimsyest evidence ever used in this way. Basically the evidence against them goes along the lines of "Abdul's, Brother's, Father-in-Law says it's true so it must be."

Quite how the Senate figured that the most closely monitored British MP could somehow become an oil millionaire without being noticed is quite funny. They keep banging on about a Charity that Galloway set up to help and orphaned Iraqi girl. There are questions about how that Charity is run, but IMO it's a bit of a stretch to go from running a dodgy charity to recieving oil from a dictator.

Galloway is a rather confrontational person, so it should be very interesting when he appears.

I'm keen to point out, that while I think he has been fingered by the senate commitee incorrectly, I don't agree with the majority of what he says.

Some informational links.

I will report back to you if we ever get to see him in action via the media. Why do I have a feeling we won't.

I'm sure we will see him in action even if you guys don't. He's quite a character and always attracts a lot of attention. Especially in this case where he has been accused and found guilty without even being asked his position, and where he has already won a libel case against a major newspaper. IF this eventually goes against the US you can be sure he'll sue the US government for defamation of character or something along those lines.

linskyjack,i don't know how it works in the US, but here in the UK when it comes to compensation it's normally the good old taxpayers who foot the bill.

The Respect MP for Bethnal Green & Bow has travelled to Washington for the hearing, but has dubbed the committee's report as "a schoolboy dossier

"Get a ringside seat," was his advice to journalists.

He's either very confident or very stupid.

Having read the report that makes the allegations, I'd say confident, the evidence they have is frankly laughable and would never in a million years, stand up in court.
