School uniforms?
How many people think schools should have uniforms?
Just wondering... who is against it and for it .

I think they're a good idea! Every kid would look alike and there wouldn't be the competition you have going on with which kid dresses the best!

True, but i also like to wear what i want. They have also been trying to get us to be our own person, which if we all look alike, that makes it kinda odd you know?

Yeah, put them all in uniforms so they can all be the same--easier to manage.

All kids like to wear what they want...same for my 15 year old son...but uniforms are only worn part of the day...they have the rest of the day to be themselves! School should be for learning...not a beauty contest! Just my opinion!

True, but its like we're supposed to be individuals. (spelling sorry lol)
they tell us "you're your own person" but you have to dress alike and look alike.

(hair will always be a beauty contest)
and when has school been for learning?
-blitze

PS
thanx for the welcome, glad to be here

i'm gonna go off the deep end a bit here....all the noise about school uniforms seems like treating the symptom and not the cause.....kids have dressed as they liked for years....many places tried liberalizing the dress codes even further, which gave rise too much of what is seen now as the 'battle of the clothes' in the schoolyard......but the whole fashion scene has really only started creating a kid market in the last fifteen years or so.....THAT, to me, is what is out of control

i'm against uniforms because too many kids already feel the 'lockstep' of school....kids, especially 6th grade on up, need to express themselves....it's also a part of 'education'

having said that, i'm all for dress codes, to negate completely inappropriate dress and minimize the need for 'the most cool/expensive/whatever'.

What do you go for? I had to go to school to learn so I could graduate...then go to nursing school...to learn and to graduate...and to make a great future for myself! We had to wear uniforms for all our in-hospital clinical work...with a blue apron to identify the student nurses from the "real" nurses! Now for the rest of my working life I get to wear the "real" nurse's uniform. School is for learning!

WHY DIDN"T ANY ONE TELL ME THAT!?!? geeze you'd think after they trap us in the place that much they'd tell us why we're there. we though it was preparing us for prizon. the high school here, was designed to be a pirzon, they decided to make it a school instead. (not joking)

I wasn't insulting your age...and what I said certainly wasn't ignorant...I was talking about your attitude towards the uniform...of course my being 48 would make me have a whole different opinion on the subject than yours...sheesh! Wear what you want...
