Job Age
To get a job, you usually h ave to be 16. How many people think this age should be raised/lowered? Why?
Enjoy the debate

PS

There are certainly restrictions limiting the number of hours worked a week and hazards associated, but I've never heard of youths being barred from working under 16.

The rules in place seem to allow youths the ability to find entry level/part time jobs with out infringing on their educations.

Seems to be working, what needs to be changed?

Here's a link to the Department of Labor and a list of subtopics describing the Federal regulations on youth:

I think that if you are under 16 most states require work papers. Go to your guidance counselor and ask.

I see no reason a responsible child around age 14 shouldn't get a part time job! Here in my town McDonald's hires 14 year olds....they're not allowed many hours...but it's a good start ijn learning to work with others! I started working at 16 myself....wow....that was a long time ago!

Jack: Yep...the kids need a work permit!

Wow 14, I think over here it is 16, although I hear a lot of seniors and juniors (17 and 18) talking about working in restaurants/fast food.

I don't want a job, I like my computer time after homework, or my 3 hrs + of homework.
