Where has Righty Gone?
If you haven't noticed, the usual defenders of the Bush agenda have all but disappeared from this forum. Oh, let me correct myself, they don't even try to defend this admininstrations madness. Then again, the majority of Americans have had it with the idiot and his corrupt cronies. I did see a post recently by a righty that essentially was praising the economy, and the lessening of the deficit, attributing that to the Bush tax cuts. (Of course, the war spending, the increase in gas prices (and the increase in tax revenues)didn't play any role in the decrease. I didn't hear any of them complain about the pork in the recent Transportation Bill (and I thought conservatives were for small government) . I haven't heard anyone talk about Iraq, but thats understandable--its an unmitgated disaster. I guess they are trying to make a big thing over Judge Roberts, but the American people dont buy it. He is as good as confirmed---and besides some dumb fringe groups, most Democrats know it.

So where is righty? Has he given up entirely? Can he read the writing on the wall, or is he just on summer vacation, spending what is left of his tax refund after he pays for increased property taxes and gasoline?

Mulder on vacation. Well he has a job to do here! He is the right wing moderator and thus should make himself available to be abused 365 days a year. I will let you in on a secret---in his heart, Mulder isn't a right winger! He is a tax winger. A tax winger is someone who got seduced by the tax cuts, and then fronted for Bush as he took this country down the tubes! All of Mulder's tax cuts went to gasoline price increases You know, where he lives, you put more miles on your vehicles then practically anywhere else in the country. They dont have any mass transit to speak of and the average SC California family owns something like 2.87 cars (the kids can't get anywhere without a car). When my son goes to NYC, he walks to the station, hops on the train and is there in 45 minutes. If one of Mulder's daughters wants to go to LA, she has to drive!

Anyway, I hope Mulder is enjoying his bicycle riding in the mountains--Before long, that will be his singular mode of transportation!

Moderates are good--the Golden Rule---not too much of this or that---I'm convinced that most Americans are moderates---which is a good thing

Possibly Woody Guthrie
Well I'll tell you, the bloom has definitely gone off the rose, thats for sure. I think a lot of the reality is starting to sink in on conservatives;
1) we are stuck in Iraq for a while, with more American lives being destroyed everyday, 2) lets face it Bush is not a conservative, he may be in a religious agenda sort of way but he certainly hasn't stopped big government from getting bigger, even removing the war budget from the equation. 3) illegal immigration. 4) Terrorism, well at least we haven't been blown up yet.
So all in all after 5-6 years of a conservative president, not a whole lot of good things have happened, or certainly not in any amount that could offset the expectations some of the Right had a few years ago.

I think you are spot on when you say that Bush isn't really a conservative. I think that Bush, much like Clinton, allows the need for power to trump his political beliefs. The only differences between the two is party affiliation and intelligence. The final straw was his signing of the Transportation Bill. That thing was an encyclopedia of everything that is wrong with American politics and was contrary to everything that conservatives have been yelling about for years. I think they came in something like 22 billion above what he wanted, and he signed without a problem.

The other big difference between Bush and Clinton is that as much as some people hated him, Clinton ran the executive branch and was not a macromanager. The man had the facility to digest enormous amounts of information and make policy based on his understanding of the data. Bush, on the other hand, is a macromanager who from the beginning gave to much power to people like Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz et al, retreads from an a bygone era. I sincerely believe that he doesn't have the abilty nor the work ethic to be a forceful leader using advisors as advisors, not policy makers.
