Hate to burst your bubble .... NOT!

Actually: "The all-time worst numbers belong to Harry Truman (23%), who also holds the record for the biggest range in approval rating. George H. W. Bush eventually sank to 29%. Carter hit 28%, and Nixon was at 24% before he resigned. "

Katrina Victims: Fear Replaced by Relief, but Majority Still Scarred

Hurricane Katrina survivors who have sought assistance from the American Red Cross give Gallup a vivid sense of the emotional turmoil they felt in the first few days of the hurricane and its aftermath, including profound fear for their lives, shock over the devastation of homes and property, and anxiety about the future. While sheer fear has subsided, many are sad, and nearly a third continue to express acutely negative emotions. Nearly two in five say they have serious difficulty sleeping a nd feelings of depression.

Not!

No matter what numbers anyone may be able to produce, the majority of people think Bush is the dumbest president of their lifetime if not all time.

It is you who is squirming, publishing every article you can find bashing anyone but Bush, while you ignore Bush's massive failures slide.

Political Mood Sours

A new CNN/USA Today/Gallup survey finds the public in the most dour mood ever measured during the Bush presidency. The public's approval of the way President George W. Bush is handling his job is at 39%, public approval of Congress at 29%, and overall satisfaction with the way things are going at 31%. The poll also shows that the public's reaction to the nomination of Harriet Miers is less positive than the public's reaction to John Roberts' nomination, with lower ratings for Miers found across the political spectrum.

SUSA's latest 50-state Bush poll
by kos
Tue Oct 18, 2005 at 12:21:37 PM PDT

I love this poll. 50 states of Bush numbers. The highlights?

# Bush is above 50 percent in only six states -- Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Alaska, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Utah, at 61/36, is the only state above 60 percent. In May, Bush was above 50 percent in 13 states. In September, it was 10 states.

# 25 states are below 40 percent. Rhode Island, Vermont, and Massachusetts are all under 30 percent. Bush is 29/70 in Rhode Island.

# Overall, Bush is at 38/59.

From the SUSA press release:

In just the past 30 days, Bush's Net Job Approval has fallen by 10 points or more in:

Texas From Plus 7 to Minus 12, a 19-point drop
South Carolina From Minus 4 to Minus 18, a 14-point drop
Mississippi From Plus 12 to Zero, a 12-point drop
Tennessee From Minus 5 to Minus 17, a 12-point drop
Michigan From Minus 21 to Minus 32, a 12-point drop
Illinois From Minus 23 to Minus 34, an 11-point drop
North Carolina From Minus 5 to Minus 15, a 10-point drop

In key Swing States, Bush's support is eroding among Regular Church Goers. See for example the trendlines in:

New Mexico
Missouri
Wisconsin
Iowa
Virginia

Public's Economic Outlook Remains Pessimistic

New Gallup Poll data show that Americans continue to have generally bleak perceptions of the economy, as they have since late August -- even before Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. A majority of Americans predict that inflation, unemployment, and interest rates will increase over the next six months, and more believe the stock market will decline than go up during that time. The economy remains a concern to a significant proportion of Americans, according to Gallup's "most important problem" question, but the wa r in Iraq is still the top specific concern.

Speaking of Utah ....
I watched a program on the History Chennel last night about the Mountain Meadows massacre in the mid to late 1800's.

Hundreds of settlers who were just passing through Utah on their way to California were brutally slaughtered by Mormons.

Horrible tragic event perpetrated in the name of Jesus Christ.
I think I want to slap the next Mormon that I see.

Public Grows More Pessimistic About U.S. Crime

The government says crime is down, or at worst, holding steady at record low levels, but Americans don't sense it. Gallup's annual Crime Poll finds an increase since last year in public pessimism about the nation's crime problem. The percentage rating U.S. crime a highly serious problem is up compared with 2004, as are public perceptions that the crime rate is getting worse. There is no indication these trends have anything to do with terrorism or partisan politics.

Bush Finishes 19th Quarter in Office on Low Note

At the conclusion of his 19th quarter in office, George W. Bush finds himself at the low point of his presidency with a quarterly average that puts him in the bottom 20% of all presidential quarters for which Gallup has job approval measures. Bush's most recent quarterly average -- for the period from July 20 to Oct. 19 -- is 43.9%. That quarterly average represents a significant decline from his 18th-quarter average of 47.4%, which was, in turn, a significant decline from a 50.7% average in his 17th quarter in office.

While I agree this was horrible, you add another example of your prejudice, by blaming all Mormons for what happened back then,

Majority of Investors Believe U.S. Economy "in a Slowdown"

Two in three U.S. investors describe the current economy as being in a "slowdown" or a "recession," as opposed to being in a "recovery" or a "sustained expansion," according to the October UBS/Gallup Index of Investor Optimism. In fact, the percentage of investors describing the economy as being in a slowdown is currently at its highest level since about four years ago, following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11.

Who cares what the 'investors' think anyway? Are these the same investors that told us Katrina would devastate the national economy? The national economy that has since absorbed the devastation in growth? They must have been listening to the same people who said there were rapes and murders and more than ten thousand dead in the water

I'm glad the American people see the strength in eachother, because these people don't!

One in Five Americans Have Evacuated Home Facing Natural Disaster

About one in five Americans have had to evacuate their homes because of a pending natural disaster. Southerners are almost three times as likely as other Americans to have been forced to evacuate their homes. Most Americans believe the federal government is prepared for Hurricane Wilma, but about a third say the government is not prepared.
