Arrow The Gallup Poll Thread
A thread to discuss the Gallup Polls as they occur.

Here is the first one:

GALLUP POLL NEWS SERVICE

Nearly Two in Three Consumers Say the Economy Is Getting Worse
While the coming "soft-patch" in the economy will most likely be attributed to Hurricane Katrina, the reality is that consumers' expectations were already tumbling in response to increasing gas prices prior to the storm making landfall around New Orleans on Monday. A new Gallup Poll (Aug. 22-25) taken about a week before Katrina reached the Gulf Coast, shows two in three consumers saying the economy is getting worse. This suggests that the modest declines in consumer sentiment/confidence reported by both the University of Michigan and the Conference Board are already significantly out-of-date. It also suggests that Katrina, and the storm's aftermath, are likely to significantly exacerbate today's already plummeting consumer expectations.

So you would know how polls are taken. Sounds interesting.

Yup!

You tell me what results you want from your poll and I'll write the questions for you!

I worked on one that was on energy that the questions were obscene!

I then saw the propaganda commercials aimed at changing public opinion afterword's!

Let me know if you want to know more!

What 1,000 Americans Would Say to President Bush About Iraq

Between Aug. 22 and Aug. 25, Gallup asked a random sample of 1,007 Americans what they personally would advise President Bush to do about the situation in Iraq if they could talk with him for 15 minutes. Here's what they said. http://www.gallup.com/nl/?18223,AlertPE,8/31/2005,

Arrow Gas Prices
GALLUP POLL NEWS SERVICE >> POLITICS & ELECTIONS

Seven in Ten Americans Hurt by Gas Prices

As the price of oil temporarily surged above $70 a barrel in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, a new CNN/USA Today/Gallup survey finds that rising gas prices are already negatively affecting most Americans. And while more people blame the oil companies than the politicians in Washington for the higher gas prices, a substantial number of people also blame the Bush administration and to a lesser extent the Republican and Democratic members of Congress.

Why do we listen to polls?

We all know that:
1. The questions are skewed to preferred responses
2. Most people are stupid.
3. They never ask the "affluent", only the "poor" (see #2)
