Wow--I assume the right wingers will be calling for the arrest and indictment of these people for murder.

I wrote a lot....... deleted it.

I posted before...the worst of Katrina was a breakdown of society, IMO.
Sad to read that, oldie.

That's so sad... but I'd rather have that than be left to die in agony.

This is an extremely sad story
I don't know how others feel, but I would prefer drug rather than be left to drown in the dark. I would want mercy.
This subject is sure to provoke much debate when it becomes known in U.S. press.
My heart goes to families of the dead , and the Doctors and staff that was forced to take such action. >f

Bill: As a nurse I'm torn on this! I know I could never be the one to inject a lethal dose of meds into one of my patients...on the other hand I would find it extremely hard to have to leave their sides and know they are going to drown. There by the grace of God go I.....I don't judge anyone who performed such measures...they only have God to answer to...and I'm sure God will forgive them. Truly sad that there wasn't an emergency evacuation plan beforehand to get these people out first. This is truly an ethical dilemma!

Bill: Don't answer if you don't want to...but would you have administered the lethal injections if you weren't retired as a Dr. and in this situation?

I cannot imagine anyone in the health profession being faced with something like that

Hello

I knew that question was coming, tough one. Alas the answer is far from simple, suffice to say I have always been against euthanasia, but in circumstances such as these I would certainly have to search my conscience !!!

Hi Bill: I thought you'd say something along those lines...I guess we'd have to live through such an experience to really dig deep into our consciences to make such a decision. Thanks for the reply and I hope you are doing well!

personally, i can't see any reason not give these people a big dose of benefit from doubt.....it goes without saying that it wasn't their first choice, imo

truely sad, that circumstances were such that this became THE best option
