You would think someone that bloated would...

Well, I'm sure he'll cross that bridge when he comes to it

True, you have a point, I was thinking more along the lines of his weight I suppose though, with that much blubber, he should be able to displace sufficient water

Where do you come up with that? Bassetman selected one Supreme Court Justice to call dumb and he's the black one--and he claimed Ted Kennedy is smater than him yet he has absolutely no personal knowledge on the subject whatsoever--he's probably never even read a Thomas opinion (and even if he had he doesn't have the knolwedge to comprhend what he was reading or to make a determination as to Thomas' qualifications as a judge--you wouldn't either).

My point is he's making precisely the point (unwittingly) the conservatives make about affirmative action and that is Thomas won't get credit for getting to where he got--he'll be looked at as getting there because he's black. That's what makes you liberals a bunch of hypocrites!

Democrats and the Supreme Court, a (VERY) brief history

There were 57 Democratic Senators in 1991, when the Senate approved the nomination of Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court. 11 Dem Senators voted yes on the nomination, along with 41 Republicans. Two Republicans actually voted no on the nomination, along with the remaining 46 Democrats.

The ABA was split on Thomas' qualification for the position, with half voting "qualified" (ABA's second lowest rating) and half voting "not qualified" (the lowest rating possible). Not to mention the whole Anita Hill thing (I guess only 48 Senators believed her). Meanwhile the entire ABA voted to give Alito a "very qualified" rating and I seriously doubt that he's been messing around on his wife, we've all seen how crazy she is.

http://www.dailykos.com/tag/Clarence%20Thomas
Hey Moore-On--virtually all the Democratic Senators (and close to half the total) voted against Alito as well and he got a "very qualified" rating from the ABA so either liberals are hypocrites or that rating means nothing. Why are so many Democrats voting against a guy who has a "very qualified" rating?

That still doesn't answer the question on what basis do you assert that Kennedy is smarter than Thomas. How did you come up with that? LAN asked you the same question and you didn't answer him either.

How about answering your racist remark? By your definition!

LOL--you make a nonsensical comment and then you quote yourself and say, "blah, blah, blah!"

Still avoiding the question. Either admit that your view of Thomas is racist or provide your support for your belief he is not a smart person and that Kennedy is smarter.

Naturally, it will take years to fully judge Alito on his performance, but this is how his
decisions are starting out:

LINK
Alito splits with conservatives on first day of work

Considering the case, he looks more the Liberal than the Conservative.
Maybe he thinks for himself.

Hi Stoner,

I don't see it a bad thing that a high magistrate is acting in total independance from his personal political opinions. It is a proof of probity.

I'm not getting to excited about Alito's first decision. After all, there have been rare occurences where even Scalia has voted against a seemingly conservative position. Only time will tell with Sam the Man.
