The fact of the matter is: there is STRESS in EVERY job. Hate to see what the logic would be for a STRESSED out doctor to operate after a few drinks

You should see the stress I have to endure dealing with Pool Boys everyday You can't imagine.

Some days you just want to drown them

I am affraid that unless you wear the shoes you should tread lightly.

The stress of pool boys LOL

Until you tell a family there loved ones died in a car accident, I have done it twice this year alone, today is only the 20th. Or put on the gun and vest and deal with some morron beating his wife and kids because she did'nt get his beer fast enough. Then go to your second job just to make ends meet.
I'm affraid you will NOT be able to "rip me a new one"

Sorry to be so frank.........

Since we are being 'frank' (by the way, does he know anything about pools? ) --- I find it quite ironic that you being in the law enforcement field seeing what you say that you've seen, and seeing where you've ripped people for being a 'seasoned' drunken driver, are those not the words that you used? and yet seem to 'condone' a 'fellow' officer for doing the same thing, under the 'umbrella' of STRESS?

Give me a friggin' break. There are many stressful jobs out there, maybe a firefighter perhaps? So, you are going to tell me that there are "UNDERLYING" issues as to why they'd be driving around drunk and/or with open containers in their FIRE TRUCK, that MY TAXES pay for? So when they DO get into an accident, and the city is sued, I HAVE TO FORK OUT MORE DOLLARS to cover their sorry A$$!

Bring out the boxing gloves baby, cause I'm on a mission!

I've seen some interesting comments slipped in between the answers. This is not a political subject, it's public safety.

1. When he or she is legally impared, whatever your state sets the limit to is fine.
2. One more chance after the 1st offense.
3. by your bac and then drug test upon failing a bac test.

The gloves are on.... But I am afraid you miss understood me I am not in any way shape or form condoning his actions.
I am however, trying to understand "WHAT THE HELL HE WAS THINKING ABOUT" i.e. the stress of the job, lets face it true there are stresses in everyones job and everyones life, but the stresses that come from LE, FF and medics is off the scale. Thats why I say things like "before you can have an average you must first have an extreme, I'm working on the extreme"

Ok, before anyone gets angry, I want to make one thing VERY clear here.

I love Deputy Dawg, errrr........I mean Deputy Dave and i consider him a friend.

So, I'm just having some fun beating up on his ideas, and or positions.....not HIM personally

Just thought I'd clarify that

*Actually, I probably should have said wrestling instead of boxing gloves *

I know you don't it's just the way your initial post is worded I guess. Many seemed to have taken it as an excuse or reason for his error in judgement. You have clarified your point now though.

Good, glad you clarified that.

Perhaps 'condone' was the wrong word.

But any attempts to lessen the severity of the situation by blaming stress, equally is not acceptable
