Armed Gang Nets Millions

Armed Gang Nets Millions
Updated: 21:17, Wednesday February 22, 2006

An armed gang has stolen up to £40m from a security depot in Kent.
The thieves posed as police to abduct the manager of the Securitas depot in Tonbridge and his family.

The manager was taken to the Vale Road security depot at around 1am, Kent Police said.

At least six men, some armed with handguns, then threatened and tied up around 15 members of staff.

The gang loaded a substantial amount of cash into a white lorry before driving off at about 2.15am.

Police were alerted about an hour later when the staff activated an alarm.

No one was hurt in the robbery.

The Bank of England said at least £25m had been stolen but sources said the true figure could be as high as £40m.

This would make it the biggest ever armed robbery in Britain.

I think this should be investigated has to whether there is a Blair - Bush connection, involvement or cover-up..

*smells fishy to me*

Hi,
With such a large amount of cash stolen, I would think the gang members are rather worried, as our usually lackadaisical British police force will pull out all the stops on this crime, to save themselves from embarrassment.

With the very high level of security, surveillance and traffic cameras around the country they will have been observed over a wide area, giving a large chance that they will have been filmed swapping vehicles, clothing etc.
Also a fairly significant part of the UK population, in particular the criminal community have their DNA recorded, making identification easy, as it is very difficult not to leave some DNA evidence behind.

With six people in the gang the odds of being caught are pretty high and the police only need to catch one member to be virtually guaranteed of catching the rest.

Hey there Rozy, Welcome to TSG!

I'd wager the money is already out of the country, and was within a few hours of it taking place. The heist happened in the perfect location for them to hop on a ferry or take the tunnel to France.

The biggest problem I can see them having is getting rid of the money. It's not like you can walk into a high street bank and say:
Crims: "Umm I'd like to make a cash deposit",
Bank Teller: "Certainly sir how much for?"
Crims: "Forty Million"

And with current money laundering laws you can't even buy a car worth more than £10'000 with cash. If you attempt to, the dealer has a legal obligation to inform the police!

The article I read said there were six perpetrators and their descriptions give a hint as to whom they may be:

One was rather stupid looking white guy and had the classic 'deer caught in headlights' look; one was a rather portly, balding, pudgy pig looking and had his nose up the butt of the first guy; one was a rather tall, skinny, fierce looking black woman who looked like she had never been laid; one was an obese, sneering and gruff dude carrying a 28 ga. shotgun; one was a gordo Mexican that kept mumbling something about the Geneva Convention being over rated; and the last looked slightly mummified with gnarly features and kept wanting to build a human pyramid. This gang has struck numerous times in the past and are notable for ripping off vast fortunes from treasuries accumulated by the poor to give to the rich..........kind of a Robinhood in reverse. They are considered armed and dangerous to the entire world, and known to have access to nuclear weapons and other WMD's. They are admired and placed on a pedestal by neocons worldwide, much like Bonnie & Clyde were by the hungry masses in middle America during the '30's.

British Police Make Arrest in Big Heist
One of Britain's biggest and most audacious robberies was executed with military-style precision: One gang abducted the cash depot manager's family while another tied up guards and made off with up to $87 million.

Police said they made one arrest and were expected to release other details late Thursday on the robbery, which bore striking similarities to a 2004 robbery in Northern Ireland. Police blamed criminal gangs _ not terrorists _ and said the hunt continued for the other men.
