Is SONY PSP over rated?
I believe that the sony psp system is over rated. I regret that i did buy a psp and now realize that the $300 i wasted could have gone to something more important. The reason im so upset about the system is because somthing that cost $300 should be able to survive a drop from my table. I tried getting my psp fixed by SONY. But they tried to charge me $90. THen i fixed it myself and spent $50 dollars on a new LCD screen. I got it fixed and later found out that my UMD reader was also broken. Now i have to buy a replacement that cost around $50. THis is not the only reason i regret buying my psp, i also believe that the games are to expensive. $50 dollars for a game that is worse than the PS2 game.

IMO, Sony hasn't made a great product since the days of the Playstation still being an add on for the SNES.

Die hard name, pretty crappy MFG anymore.

First of all, its an excellent product and isn't made to be dropped off a table--thats absurd. How can you blame Sony for your mess up? There is nothing in its price range that gives you internet access, games, an MP3 player, fantastic screen and of course, the ability to play your own videos on.

hit the nail on the head. Just like messing up your PS/PS2 by adding a mod chip in. SONY won't do a repair when it's not at the fault of the company.

They are correct to charge you. Check your Terms and Conditions

Anyways, you do realise that the LCD screen is the most expensive part of the PSP? Probably about $150-200. I wouldnt complain about the price of the unit.

As for the game price.. I agree that games should be at least about $30, but I would need to see the cost of making it. Like time and labor, materials etc.

Let's see for 300 bucks I get a portable DVD player, MP3 player, and a hand held game. That alone is a bargain.

All im saying is that a $300 prooduct should be able to survive a fall from a table. As for the psp it is really good. The capabilities it has are endless. But with the firmware updates the possibilities get smaller.

Actually the firmware updates add more functionality -- and you can roll back if you don't like it (yes I know they say you can't)

What about a laptop? Most wouldn't survive such a fall w/o need of repair.

Does it actually play DVDs or are they just movies that you need to buy separately in a PSP format? I thought it was the latter but don't own one... got an Xbox 360 instead

It plays the MP4 formatted for PSP -- there's a VCR type device you can purchase where you can record TV/movies from your devices onto the stick

I use my PSP to show clients videos I create---its easy enough to edit them. PSP Hollywood movies are in the UMD format. Again, the PSP isn't a Timex watch--its a sophisticated piece of electronics that isn't meant to be dropped.

It's easier to link you to another post -- several steps, but they are rather easy

I just spent more than that on an mp3 player...and I do NOT expect it to survive a fall from a table...sweet jebus. It contains a hard drive...and the first rule of hard drives is "DO NOT DROP".
