A Somali-born Dutch MP who came to symbolise the Netherlands' troubled relations with Islam is planning to leave her adopted country and settle in the United States.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is expected to announce today that she will resign as an MP, days after a television programme accused her of lying in 1992 in order to secure Dutch nationality.

Ms Hirsi Ali, a fierce critic of radical Islam who lives under armed guard, wants to pre-empt any move by the Netherlands' tough immigration minister to strip her of Dutch citizenship.

I've just seen that story on Channel 4 here in UK. Thw whole focus was on her as a charlatan / fraudster. The presenter (though supposedly impartial, is a self confessed marxist who once gave a conference speech praising Daniel Ortega the one time Sandanista leader of Nicaragua.)

What happened to the right wing revival after the death of Pim Fortuyn ?

- Also I recall reading something about a white teenager stabbed after refusing to give up his mp3 player to 2 n african muggers ... was that in Belgium where you are, or in Holland ? Were any arrests made ? I read that there was a large protest ... but again news reports can't beat eyewitness accounts ...

That lady committed a fraud in the past to get the Dutch citizenship, story that she revealed 4 years ago. Since, she has been elected as a member of Pim Fortuyn's party.
Before her election, she acted in a movie directed by Theo Van Gogh to denounce the bad treatment reserved to the women in the Islamic world. The movie infuriated the radical Muslims in Holland and therefore, Theo Van Gogh was assassinated and a fatwa was released by some bigot imams asking the head of Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

In Brussels, in the Central Station, a young boy, 17 years old is killed by 2 thugs who wanted to steal his Ipod. If I remember, the murder has been committed the last holy Friday near 4 PM. At this hour of the day, the station is over-crowded and very noisy (a train is coming each two minutes in the subway below the main building of the station) and nobody noticed that somebody was being stabbed on one of the platforms for his MP3 reader.
According to the witnesses, the suspects had been mistaken for North African immigrants.
Later, we learned that they are gypsies with a Polish citizenship. They have been arrested, one in Brussels and the other in Poland.
