Are The Police Gaining To Much Authority ?
My question is do you think that the police are gaining to much authority. When i say that i mean are going to end up in a high police state & then just sell it of as protection from terrorism? I see it happening. The random bag searches are ok. The check points are annoying. Whats next?

Face it. If we still had Ashcroft then the odds for that would be more now.

The police and the law are two different things. Having more police might not be bad whereas having more draconian laws would. Again servailence and indentification are two differents things. The fact that in public one is under cctc doesn't matter as much as there being a data bank about one.

btw if we are talking about MS and my comp then yes I agree their power has gone too far : - )

Are the Police gaining to much authority?

Well you tell me? Our internet server has the right to scan our internet activity. And we as the user can't do anything about it.

Why should I be about a little thing like that.

The Law & Order character Lenny Brisco said it best "Were the police we know everything"

Seriously, there is fine line that is balanced by EVERY cop on the street EVERY day, I will use this example, an officer responding to a not a life threating call but an urgent call, has two complaints logged against him in the same day, the first is from a driver saying "the police drive to fast", the second from the person calling for help, "the police take to long to get to my house" having said that follow this same logic, the current level of police authority is good, but when the s@%t hits the fan, the question will be what took so long, why did you not do something before? the current level of law enforcement is based on being reactive we have to wait until something happens before we take action (blame the lawyers here) the only way to become proactive or do something before it happens laws must be on the books, (again blame the lawyers).
