Out sourcing customer service
does anyone contact "customer support" and receive a "Non speaking individual" who you can't understand and/or explain it simple enough without going over it 10 times..ask for an English speaking person?

Hi mom2inky

Thought I'd mention the moderators don't like individual members starting more than several new threads a week.

I think you just used up your allotment

Well, if they are a "Non speaking individual" I find they normally don't get hired for customer support

Well that'd be blatant discrimination.

Seriously, if I could think of a way to say "I'd like to speak to a native English speaker" without any possibility of causing offence, I would. After all, I'm usually paying.

I haven't had a problem because I am a good listener and I understand most accents. I am also patient and if I don't understand I ask them to please repeat. It takes longer, but I have always gotten satisfaction. And in a couple cases special treatment. Some people get a mental block when they hear an accent and don't even try to understand.

PS..Welcome to TSG.

It's fairly obvious that outsourcing phone support to foreign countries ultimately lowers the cost of the final product.

Here's a question:
if you knew you were keeping jobs in America, one of the perks of this would be that you would likely have a person speaking good English (unless of course you pressed option 2), would you be willing to pay say $200-$300 extra for a computer?

Nope, they're just gonna tell you to send it in and pay to get it fixed

Doesn't matter what language it is in, your wallet is gonna end up taking the hit
