Smile Military paid too much?
Does anyone else think that the military is paid too much? That is to say, salaries, allowances, bonuses, etc. I'm not denying they work hard, but this pay system is part of the reason that our taxes are so high.

I've started a thread on my personal message board:

http://forums.michaelcrook.com/showthread.php?t=6

But I'm also curious to see what you guys think-- more pay, less pay, keep it the same?

Have you ever been in the military, I would bet no since you even made this post. They earn every dollar for what they do and are evaluated on an anual basis on proficiency. I really doubt the guy that posted in the other forum was in the military either. Here is the MONTHLY pay scale for military members. Look at the enlisted pay scale at the bottom and tell me they are overpaid, I don't think they have had a raise since 03 when this chart came out.

I have no idea what BONUSES you are referrign to, but I never recieved one while I was in. I only recieved a small cloting allowance and per diem when I went on TDY. Housing was supplemented if you lived off base, but barely. Base housing was dormatory style with roomates.

The pay and the medical benefits are poor considering they put their lives at risk to serve our country.
I wouldn't have a problem with increasing their benefits.
Matter of fact, I think that would be a good idea.

BTW, our taxes are high because of corruption, social expenditures and foreign wars.

This has to be the stupidest thread I have read in weeks. The military paid too much!---If anything they are underpaid for the job that they do and the risk to their lives.

I wonder if the author of this thread would debate this with a roomful of US Marines in Baghdad or British Paras in Afghanistan

Not to say that it's not a valid thread here: just stupid as LJ says

People risking their lives to protect our country are not paid enough!! Think about how much money a sports figure makes, for instance, playing a game they love in a safe place.

Michael Crook is just promoting Michael Crook's web site by placing a link to his web site and forum. Seems a shameless form of self promotion and SPAM if you axe me!

I agree with others here...men and women in the military are not paid enough for the service and sacrifice they pay to our country! They deserve much more!

Too much, they should donate a portion of their wage to the MLB or NBA. The real heros in our society.
