Banning all liquids on airplanes
Do you think the goverment or airlines is over reacting on banning all liquids on air planes. That includes shampoos soda lipstick makeup eye liner ETC the only kind of liquid you can bring is baby food and that has to be searched.

I, for one, am absolutely overjoyed that they banned Urine. For a while there, it was starting to get unbearable.

Safety also includes the olfactory sensibilities of your fellow travellers. How many times do I have to repeat it people, NO MORE URINE!!!!

At least not carry-on.

Hi BF,

Methane should also be prohibited. During her last air trip, my sister had to bear someone who farted while sleeping. She had no way to change her place as the plane was full. Then, she asked the air hostess if she can put the oxygen mask on her face. After a negative answer, she had to travel with her head turned permanently to the opposite side.

Whether it's "over-reacting" is probably academic* -- the airports authority over here has already declared the tightened security checks to be "not sustainable". Unless of course someone's going to double the security staff & thereby the ticket costs.

I see no problem with it, these are all unnecessary items anyway. The only issue I can see besides baby's is if you have a medical condition that requires a liquid.

As I pointed out in another thread, banning passenger's carry-on liquids doesn't really remove the threat.

As security gurus have already suggested, so-called Binary Explosives could quite easily be smuggled onboard an airplane, by using the co-opted services of ground staff.

Anyone visiting Heathrow and Gatwick, for example, quickly realises that a vast amount of support services are staffed by ethnic groups, earning minimum wage: more worrying, in the dash for profit, whole chunks of services are outsourced: and it is a matter of record, that outsource outfits have been notoriously cavalier in checking references: particularly for agency staff. Thus workers can be twice and three times removed from both the airport managing authorities and the airlines.

Probably, one of the biggest current jokes in the UK is how so-called "Security" staff, checked after significant incidents, have been discovered to be illegal immigrants with false ID.........................as have cleaning staff, given totally free access to important buildings when everyone else has gone home.

They've has similar problems here in the US, as far as the passengers go I don't think they could ever completely remove all risks. even if they completely banned carry-ons and eliminated all possible help from the outside it would still be possible to pose a security risk. At best they can try and minimize it.

Ummm..................the main problem here, Coalman, is that if all ethnic workers and outsourcing were withdrawn, all UK airports would now grind to a halt, particularly Heathrow, which has the largest level of traffic in Europe.

Not to mention, of course, the massive legal counter-reaction under Human Rights Act, Employment Legisaltion and etc.

I believe it's called painting yourself into a corner!

Hmmm. . . Food for thought. I'm flying to London this Wednesday so, yeah, I'm glad they've upped security. On the other hand, if my plane were to have been blown to bits by terrorists, the Americans would've made a movie. I coulda been a star!
