It says---I am Empire--a thirteen year old Muslim trying to cope with living in the West. By the way, the US should leave Iraq yesterday and allow the Muslim brothers solve their own problems. I would be happy to throw a couple of schekels their way in order to help them get started.

Sure! We should just surrender and crawl back into a hidey hole and hold our breath until we turn blue. That'll show them who's boss! Why don't you take your toys and go home while you're at it.

Or we could just 'stay the course' and continue to let them become targets...

The fact is, well, I guess the OPINION is - mine, anyways - that no matter what war you're talking about, this one, past ones, hypothetical ones, you CANNOT let your enemy know your deadlines, period.

This is especially true when you're talking about non-standard warfare - i.e. guerilla tactics, etc... If we were to issue a press release that said "All US troops will be leaving on December 1, 2007" then the enemy combatants would obviously know how long they had to wait us out before starting up major hostilities again.

Should we decide on a date? Maybe. I think that each side of the argument has merits that need to be carefully considered by the correct people who are "in-the-know." But they should NEVER tell us - the American public or the press - what that date is, or if they're even going to choose one.

It seems to me that in this day and age of mass communication and instant gratification, people - the American public particularly - feel that they have a "right to know" all of the particulars about each mission that we embark on and every sordid detail concerning who's where, when, and for how long.

The fact of the matter is that in times of war secrecy is essential. Am I saying that we should give the government a blank check and then wait and see what happens? No, not at all, not by a long shot. But we need to trust the checks and balances that we have in place and allow the government and the Army to conduct their operations while giving as little information to the enemy as possible. A lot of times that means keeping the public in the dark so that key information doesn't spread to spies and informants.

So, to answer your question: Maybe

I have no desire to show one group of Muslims that hates another group of Muslims who the boss is. Let them figure it out. Why are the wingers so willing to use our military to do social engineering. Get over it, they hated each other before we got there, and the only reason they didn't kill each other was that they feared the man---Saadammmmmmmmmmm!

No known timeline. If the Dept. of Defense wants to establish one, fine. I don't want it out for public knowledge. No good can come from that.

As for Sadam, they were definitely terrified of him.
