i don't think this is at all "necessary", but i do think it works better for some kids...my own daughter considered applying to an all girls private school (without prompting ) because she realized there'd be less "distractions"

the consideration last a day....28 hours at the most

I believe that we go to school to prepare to face the world better equipped... but the world that we enter is filled with men a women... we have to learn to deal with that... so, in my mind, going in a unisex class would certainly not be an advantage... and deprive us from learning how the other half is like...

Hi Shamou,

Well said ! To go back to unisex schools is just a regress for me.
I've read the article pointed by mom2inky and the comments of readers. One of the readers seems to favor unisex school because of the light clothing of fashionable girls. For people who agree with his opinion, I say that schools may impose rules in order to have pupils decently clothed. Indeed, there's no need to have classrooms filled with P***ycat Dolls wannabes but it's not a valid reason to go back in the past.

There was a news story about this issue recently. Can't remember all the details, maybe someone else can. I think it was in CA where someone wanted to enforce a law that prohibits students (males) from wearing low riding pants.... Making it a fine-able offense.

Personally, I dislike this kind of pants. A few years ago, it was a fashion for the males to exhibit their underpant above their low-riding pants.
A few days ago, while doing my shoppings, I saw a guy with the same kind of pants and below, he was wearing a G-string ! I notice it when he was bending to take some articles in the store. Wonderful show ! He had blackhaired bums.

When do we incorporate ourselves into everyday society and living conditions? The schools
have been a very good opportunity to not only learn math and things, but, peer things.
And, thus, an integration into community.
That aside, I think there should be institutions of learning for everyone, including those who
feel more comfortable with specific venues...Some people do better in these environments.
