He wasn't bathing in the sun. He was cutting shrub and dodging tornadoes. Oh, I forgot, he is also formulating his new Iraq Policy----which most certainly will be more of the same.

President Bush should attend Fords funeral --as a matter of respect.
I believe its the normal thing for Presidents to attend former Presidents funerals.
I do realize being President is "HARD WORK" -- got to work weekends and such--George told me so!. >f
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WASHINGTON - Less pomp, more circumstance.

Gerald R. Ford’s state funeral is missing some of the grandeur of the one for Ronald Reagan two years ago, a reflection of the 38th president’s modest ways and lesser imprint on the nation, according to further planning details released Thursday.

Part of it will be missing President Bush, too. The president will not attend Ford’s state funeral in the Rotunda on Saturday night, but will return to Washington from his Texas ranch on Monday, pay respects to Ford while his remains lie in state at the Capitol, and speak Tuesday at services for Ford at the National Cathedral.

Ford created a posthumous buzz with the release of interviews critical of Bush that he gave to two newspapers on condition they not be published at the time.

He told The Washington Post in 2004 and the New York Daily News in May that Bush was mistaken in his rationale for going to war against Iraq. He also said he was “dumbfounded” when he learned of Bush’s domestic surveillance program.

gee whiz

how much you want to bet the Bush bashers would be whining that he stole the spotlight to divert attention from Iraq if he was there last night

get a grip folks.

surprised you also did not complain that Chaney spoke too long.

We need to move on.

there are better things to bash Bush about than this.

I was thinking the same thing--whatever he does, like anything anyone does for that matter, you can find a negative and liberals are absolutely adroit and finding the negative in everything and anything. Their motto should be "there's a black cloud in every silver lining!" I still don't understand how anyone can stand to live with such an attitude?

The same liberals who now claim to have such respect for Ford that absolutely hammered him back when he pardoned Nixon??

Not that the Republicans would avoid taking the opportunity to do the same.

I guess the same way you seem to be able to live with making massive generalizations about "liberals". I've read many of your posts, and you generally seem to manage to throw in a comment -- even when the topic is not political. Just thought I'd point that out to you.

You learned pretty quick.

But facts are facts.

and both sides of the aisle are manipulative beasts.

This started on a political note when Bush was bashed for not attending the services yesterday which I might add some would not consider the funeral.

No argument there.

But this is petty politically based BS to blame him for not being in Washington yesterday if people feel that way.

Bush is an incompetent fool. But at some point argue something with merit.
