FBI agents documented more than two dozen incidents of possible mistreatment at the Guantanamo Bay military base, including one detainee whose head was wrapped in duct tape for chanting the Quran and another who pulled out his hair after hours in a sweltering room.

Documents released Tuesday by the FBI offered new details about the harsh interrogation practices used by military officials and contractors when questioning so-called enemy combatants.

The reports describe a female guard who detainees said handled their genitals and wiped menstrual blood on their face. Another interrogator reportedly bragged to an FBI agent about dressing as a Catholic priest and "baptizing" a prisoner.

The FBI reports do not say whether any laws were broken. They said nothing employees observed rose to the level of abuse seen at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

Not to discount your thread but this is old news really. I read that article as well and was surprised it got any ink. Amnesty International came out with this information almost from the giddyup. Then when Bush announced that prisoners from CIA detention centers from around the world were being to gitmo they rehashed the story. Bottom line is we're dirty with this crap & history will not remember this period kindly in terms of the U.S.

If menstrual blood/ Using the Christ / that belief--low tactics would assure a win , it would be better than whats happening, but thats not case. We are in gutter and not winning anything. Just losing ourselves --as you put it. >f

I really have ask you people, "HOW DUMB ARE YOU?" Do you really think any of us believe you care what happens to prisoners in Guantanamo Bay? You probably get two dozen incidents of prisoner abuse (and much worse than this) in one week in the maximum security prisons throughout this country yet I've never seen any of you raise any concern over that? Are you more concerned with Muslim prisoners than you are Americans?

Why don't you simply get some intellectual honesty and admit the only reason this gets any press is its an opportunity to slam Bush. I think people would have more respect for some of you if you were honest about your motives rather than carry on this charade of concern for your fellow man! You really aren't fooling anyone with half a brain.

I believe we should move these prisoners to San Quentin and afford them all the constitutional rights we give Americans. Next provide them with social security and free medical care. Provide them with opportunities to buy into Starbuck franchises and McDonald's. And if they ask nice give them back their AK-47s and fly them back to Afghanistan to continue their jihad.

I wasn't talking about that actually, I was talking about them acting like they were actually concerned about the prisoners in Gitmo and expecting we would believe it, but yours is good too! I'll bet money the same things happened when Clinton was president but you never heard boo about it!

I don't believe Bush was mentioned before you brought him up Mulder. Like many of the conservative persuasion you react out of a guilty conscience. I agree the same outrage should be expressed with regard to how we treat our own citizens imprisoned in our own country.
It isn't the fact that we care more about muslims @ Gitmo it's the continued hypocrisy of trotting the globe trying to tell other, ancient, cultures how it's supposed to be.
Bush is not responsible for most of the crap that has exited the governments collective anus during his tenure. He's too stupid to have screwed this up by himself. There are many plutocrats culpable in this travesty. I don't care if they are republican, democrat, or independent they participated in this mess and bear responsibility for it. Unless you have put your life on the line for this country you don't know what it is like to see these soldiers dying every day. Yeah I care about the muslim prisoners being mistreated just as I care for the civilians being mistreated in Iraq, Palestine, Israel, Sudan, Somalia, China. Fidelista metioned Rummy in his 2nd post and the whole point of the article being posted in the first place was exactly to be used to impugn Bush--its been done here already a 1000 times. Do you really think I'm going to believe you are concerned what's happening with prisoner's in Gitmo or that that's why the thread started posted it--out of concern?
