Viewers can watch the pre-dawn launch of shuttle Atlantis from the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, the closest public viewing site to the launch pad.

A limited number of tickets are now on sale to view the launch scheduled for 6:43 a.m., March 15. Admission tickets may be bought in advance to receive a car placard to enter KSC for the 21st U.S. mission to the International Space Station.

Special launch day activities are planned, including a live NASA countdown, video presentations on a jumbo screen, astronaut appearances and launch briefings.

Tickets are $38 for adults and $28 for children from 3-11, plus tax and can be purchased online or by phone. Call 449-4400 or go to www.KennedySpaceCenter.com

You dont need to buy any ticket to see these launches, the view from all around the KSC is just as good but further away.
6 to 12 miles.
Make it a point to see just one of these launches, you'll never forget it.

I remember a few years ago on a family holiday in Florida I watched Colombia launch while sitting on a rubber tube in Typhoon Lagoon on the Disney resort.
That prompted me to demand that we go to KSC to watch the lanuch next time we were on vacation and there was a launch. My god is it an impressive sight up close at the KSC, I can't describe the noise, it's like it goes straight through you! You can almost feel your organs vibrating inside!!

I strongly recommend anyone who can get there to go and see a live launch, it's one of the modern wonders of the world IMO.

Chris.

Chrisjones,

I think you got the names of the shuttles mixed up, in 2003 the Columbia disintegrated on re-entry over Texas.

And if you'd been a member of TSG back then, you'd have seen a post stating that 'Saddam wil pay for this' presuming he had the capability to bring down the Shuttle.
