Am I alone in wishing Bush would just have some passion
I just wish he'd go over to Iraq and give a speech to the nation. Not just a speech, but a scolding. What the hell does he have to lose anyway? I want to see him fire-eyed and passionate. Those repulsive wastes of life insurgents over there continue to spread their "beliefs" to children who have no reason to believe anything other than what they are told. fighting alone only supports the radicals' "persuasion." Heck, by just fighting, we're throwing more fuel than water onto the fire.

I could rant on and on, it's just frustrating. He's the friggin president of the United States yet his power goes to waste. He has no idea how much persuasion can come from a strong speech.

It's all about the country being politically correct. Just once, I'd like to hear him say "we're going to eliminate the insurgents" or my personal favorite "one bullet, one dead insurgent".
Instead, we hear "we will bring them to justice"

When was the last such speech you can think of?

If you're looking for an "I have a dream" or a "This day will live in infamy", I think you're a few decades late. People(other than the now immortalized wrestling promoter, Howard Dean) don't seem to make such speeches anymore.

I'm trying to think back to the most recent "passionate" speech I remember.

"Mr Gorbachev, Tear down this wall!" is the most recent thing I can think of.

When you look back at important moments in history, there used to be passionate speeches given. Emotions would flow. When the Hindenburg went down, the reporter was crying. You could hear it in his voice.

Things changed.

No such thing happened on 9/11.

SB
Well say an armed group of men busted into your house sat your kids down and proceeded to give them a lecture on the benefits of choice for women, the benefits of abortion and the correctness of Daewin??
Would that be OK?
Well by the Golden Rule you should allow this if you would want what you posted.

HINT: IRAQ IS NOT OUR COUNTRY!!!

They want us out of there. There are almost a billion Moslems in the world. Most of them want us out of there. To the British in 1776 we were the insurgents. These iraqi "insurgents" are heroes to many in the world.

Is your opinion backed up by much knowledge of the history of Iraq. Have your inquired any further then your TV set and newspaper.
If you have not but are so passionate in your opinion, I suggest that you do our country no good. If you make the fundimental mistake of supposing that the President has some Godlike wisdom or knowledge then you your religion no good.
And if in your heart you feel that those who have seen the dangers in continuing to remain there are somehow traitors then you have a sinful amount of Pride in your soul.

I am sorry to be this harsh but those with a passionate loyalty to Bush got us into this mess. The blood of tens of thousands of Americans and Iraqis have been shed because millions of Americans let others think for them. Totalitarianism rests upon the manipulation of emotions.
Democracy is hard work. Because it rests upon an informed citizenry. If you truly believe in our democratic way of life YOU have to do the hard work of being informed and respectfully considering all points of view before coming to a conclusion.

I would think compassion to be more appropriate than passion in the threads header. Never the less I don't think this guy has very much of either

You so forget about Bush with the bullhorn in the streets of New York after 911 with the firemen by his side .Granted not a posed speech but a better spur of the moment rally that even Chris Matthews still praises.

BUSH: I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you, and the people...

(APPLAUSE)

BUSH: And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon.
