bottom line, in america, we have a saying; up to your butt in alligators. You've created yourself a no-win situation, and to be totally honest, I am not entirely sure that a site like TSG should even be discussing subject matter such as this; you've put yourself in a very tenuous situation as far as local authorities go, and obviously your friends were chosen with enough esteem that you are afraid that they would turn on you, which of course leads one to ponder how good of friends they are.

You've been asked several times if this is a game or not, and have not given a straight answer that I've seen.

Personally, I think this is just a hoax and you are having fun judging people on their response. If it is real, then you are screwed. Either way, I don't think that TSG should be held liable for offering advice in matters of this nature.

But that's just MY skewed conscience.

Just got in: is this a real story of fact, a debating strategy to reveal the collective moral compass, or a figment of PhoenixNEW's vivid imagination? Can't be the first option as only a half wit of biblical proportions would discuss it on an open forum.

You could of course consider a substantial donation to Cermak Technologies, from the reward you will get for handing in the money.

I agree with Valis, that TSG shouldn't be offering any advice here but my reasoning for that it because PhoenixNew lives in Turkey - we can only offer all the right ideas for what a person living in a free and open society should do.

Mahmet , it would be very sad if this was a hoax, I think enough people on this forum have gone out of their way to try and understand you and your viewpoint on things - it would show a lack of respect to them if this was all a game.

If DNA testing is unable to discover the identity of the person who died and/or the car license/registration cannot be identified, then there may be a statute of limitations, in which case the money/valuables may (according to law on books?) be able to be claimed by the finders - i.e. you and your friends. Do some research on this quickly or ask an honest lawyer (in confidence - but, don't tell him the actual story, tell him a hypothetical story different from reality, but asking about finders/keepers for say $100 found on the street). Ask the honest lawyer, what is the right thing to do?

What you do not need is to have a guilty conscience for not having done the right thing - for the rest of your lives.

Hi Tom,

After reading your post and others I feel it is essential to listen to the consience and give up the money to the authorities- by directing them to the different path and I will have to find a good lawyer and that is my present problem.

I was thinking about sending some photos of money and small footage of the scene to the media in exchange for some money. What do you say? I might be able to get some award by doing the right thing. i could use this for better purpose.

thank you
mehmet.

I'd say kill your friends and keep the money for yourself--dump their bodies in the same place as the one you found as it appears no one ever checks there.

Report it to the police. The love of money is the root of evil.

It is morally wrong to allow my friends to keep their money. Sometimes, I think, should I act as a responsible citizen in corrupt country.
