Can women and men relationships ever be platonic?
“When Harry met Sally” is a movie about the relationship between man and woman. In one particular scene Harry asks Sally: can men and women ever be friends. Of course, sally was insulted but ironically sally ends up sleeping with Harry.

Is Harry right? I am not going to reveal the other parts of the movie and spoil the climax for others. Is platonic relationship between woman-man ever possible?

Personal story: My friend Omar had known a girl from high school and they used to walk to school every day and share their emotions. The girl used to take the Omar shopping, to parks and beach with her every week to tell him how she liked him for his ideas on dresses, people and books. She thought that he was the best friend she ever had.
Omar was fed up and he finally couldn’t take it anymore. One night, he came over to my home and he broke down. I tried to warn him by saying that she has already got a boyfriend. He told me that she had been slowly torturing him, he was in love, and this “friendly posture” was driving him crazy! I told him to tell her and her reaction was expected -She was completely flabbergasted. All the time, she never considered that he was attracted to her.

I told Omar that you are a bold man and most men never do. Of course examples exist of purely platonic male-female friendships. Again, I am sure that they are less common than people think. Now, I like to know your opinion on the topic. Also, it would be nice to know if any such platonic rule happen in gay or Lesbos world (your comments are appreciated.)

Hi PN,

Possible, but it doesn't last forever.
You illustrate your subject with a movie. Personally, I've lived a similar situation like in the movie 'Lost in translation'. A few years ago, I met a young woman, very young because I'm older than her father. And we had a platonic relationship until she left the country for her new career. The last day I kissed her good luck and we parted.

Yes, your case is a rarity but most of the time men dont understand women and vice versa.
did you read the book : "men are from mars and women are from venus". it is a good book and it explains how woman sees man and man sees woman.

I had a friend --a platonic relationship with a very young woman, who I admired . Just friends because I was so much older than she.
I married her. >f

No, I don't read the book though I've already noticed it on the shelves.
All I can say from my experience is a woman is not another.

Yes, I believe so. I've had two very good completely platonic relationships with two different guys at two different times in my life.

So why don't you tell us what you think PNew...instead of the other way around.......do you have platonic leanings toward woman, or do your sexual instincts override that possibility

Thats debatable---though as far as Muslims go, you are fairly progressive. Hang around here long enough and we will make you a progressive.
