The Bill Richardson awareness thread. How could he not be the best candidate?
People have to be mental or just really ignorant to think Hillary Clinton or Rudy Guiliani would make good presidents. I don't see how anyone could trust those either of those two. At least John McCain is straightforward and shows 100% the kind of person he is. People like Hillary or Rudy would be so likely to be about as bad as or worse than GWBush, it's ridiculous. Obama at least shows and gives an aura of being trustworthy and a people-person. A bothersome thing with him though is how often he "brags" about being against the Iraq war from the start. That's not something I give a sh** about, I want to know your ideas on current issues as well as the future - not the past - of this country. John Edwards is generally a good guy IMO like Obama but honestly, I don't know much about him so I can't comment any more although I have heard he is a good candidate to fight for the middle class.

Bill Richardson though, he just stands above the rest. He's been a U.S. congressman (15 years), U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Secretary of Energy, and an excellent and charismatic governor (re-elected by earning 69% of New Mexicans's votes). He's about the best experienced of all the candidates. His foreign policy is clearly the best as he KNOWS how important diplomacy really is. Anyone can talk talk talk about putting diplomacy before war, but Richardson actually has made a great reputation of being well-liked even by foreign leaders and has shown and emphasized his ability to deal with global issues (see experience as UN Ambassador). While no one can know for sure when it comes to presidential candidates, I really truly believe he can actually keep his ego away from important discussions and decisions. Of all candidates, I trust him the most when it comes to leaving the ego at the door.

Can he even be a better all-around presidential candidate??? He's a charismatic governor with positive experiences both domestically and internationally. He turned a state into a thriving hot spot (see The New Mexico Comeback) and has done positive things for issues all around foreign regions like North Korea, Darfur, and Afghanistan. The experience is clearly substantial, whether it be the locally in the state of New Mexico as governor, nationally as congressman, or internationally as U.S. Ambassador to the UN.

sort of. I guess I am advertising him and apologize to the people whom this may tick off, but I really don't care if this thread is or isn't about Richardson. I just wish people knew about him. Give him equal name recognition as Clinton or Obama and I don't see how there's any way he'd lose.

I want to see people's early votes and why they chose him or her (hope to God it's him, lol). I realize it is very early so for those of you not following along yet, there's no need to b**ch, but it really is hard for me to ignore all '08 race talk. There's not a whole lot I've ever been more excited about than finally replacing G-dub with someone decent.

The Senate confirmed Richardson to be President Clinton's Secretary of Energy on July 31, 1998. His tenure at the Department of Energy was marred by the Wen Ho Lee nuclear espionage scandal. In July 2005, a Federal judge was rumored to have said that Richardson might have leaked Lee's name to reporters months before the scientist was charged with any crime.[8] Richardson was also sharply criticized by the Senate for his handling of the espionage inquiry. During Senate questioning, Senator Robert Byrd (Democrat-West Virginia) scolded Richardson, stating: "You've... shown a contempt of Congress that borders on a supreme arrogance... You will never again receive the support of the Senate of the United States for any office to which you might be appointed."[9]

AP: Richardson ends presidential bid

MERRIMACK, N.H. -- New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson ended his campaign for the presidency Wednesday after twin fourth-place finishes that showed his impressive credentials could not compete with his Democratic rivals' star power. Richardson planned to announce the decision Thursday, according to two people close to the governor with knowledge of the decision. They spoke on a condition of anonymity in advance of the governor's announcement.

I said the same thing about the Studabaker, the Packard and the Kaiser-Frazier
Ahead of their time-but unlikely to ever be resurected.

Cool Pictures!

What made these cars "ahead of their time"?

There was a movie about Tucker cars. They were supposed to be ahead of their time, but I dind't pay enough attention to know why.
