WWIII in the making?: The global axis of oil and gas
Russia's undeclared global oil grouping is already achieving profound success as the West's oil majors' control of global reserves and of production collapses. This has all been accomplished by a largely undeclared and informal initiative very cleverly led by Moscow. Now, Russia is extending such strategies to gas. A new world order is in the making.

Article here.

P.S. Not good for the West.

Thats good newsThis opportunity will lead to greater cooperation rather than competition between the West and China and India and Russia and reduse the clash of interest between these powers. More different powers the more balanced the world is just like in the old days during the cold war.

The huge and unsustainable deficits being run by the U.S. are undermining the “oil standard” that has been central to the hegemony of both the dollar and Washington for more than three decades. Relying on the dollar for energy trade will hurt Asia’s producers and consumers alike in the long run.. Now surely that's a good recipe for a multipolar world.

Where have you been??? WWIII started at least as early as 1983 and has been in full swing since 9-11-2001. Time to get your head out of the sand and wake up to reality.

As I posted on these boards some considerable time ago, WW III was the battle against communism.

WW IV is the current battle for resources: oil and gas are simply one resource.

In my economic analyses in the late 70s and early 80s, I was suggesting that oil had surplanted gold as the universal ultimate denominator of value.

More recently I was herein suggesting that one watches Russia, as Vladamir Putin wrested economically critical previously state-owned oil and gas assets back from private control.

The next step (as I suggested some time ago) is the rebasing of value of oil and gas - and other crucial commodities, such as gold - into probably Euros, instead of US $.

At this time it is both interesting and extremely risible, how various global dignitaries have been espousing the virtues of the vodka swilling lunatic, Boris Yeltsin, the man who almost singlehandedly decided to put in train Mr Gorbachov's policies of Peritroika and Glaznost and flirted with the astounding concept of changing Russia from a central collective economy into a so-called Free Market capitalist economy: and not only wrecked the damned place, but cost greedy, gullible and stoopid Western banks zillions!

Simultaneously, Yeltsin created a new breed of oligarchs, who promptly, in the main, expressed their thanks by swiftly emigrating and smuggling their ill gotten billions out of the country, virtually destroying any chance of Russian financial stability for ten years.

Russia is now the largest supplier of gas to Western Europe and alongside Qatar, the largest known reserve of recoverable gas in the World.

Additionally, as Russian crude oil fields are optimised and new fields tapped, Putin finds himself in charge of a new Saudia Arabia and able to stand alongside other leading World leaders on more than equal terms.

Putin will associate with China and India before the USA, as new and emerging countries always find greater commonalities.

A new World order emerges and meanwhile, as is always the way, the old guard cannot accept the emergence of the new kids on the block and will assure their own destruction by arrogance, economic myopea and determination to retain the already discredited status quo.

What is really worrying is how the majority at TSG have ignored this thread and gone of to discuss all the same stuff as before: as if this thread is not too important and status will quo forever.......................................

Not me, watching it like the proverbial hawk .. in fact I've recently purchased a second car. A diesel which I run on 100% recycled veggie cooking oil .. biodiesel

But yes, a good thread and worthy of more attention by members here

PS .. maybe the Russian powers that be will one day catch up with one Roman Abramovich now there's a can of worms waiting to be opened

Well for starters it's a move away from the polarized (US) political agenda that takes up so much bandwidth in CD

Hi oldie,

Yup, the anti-liberals here at TSG are blinded by their own bias. Not a one of 'em can put aside their own biases to see all sides of an issue and confront the truth - and they continue to insist their own POV is the truth.

Replace "the anti-liberals" with "everyone". Then you might be onto something.

Yeah Tom, I see you considering all sides of an issue all the time - NOT! You think that your POV is the only one that matters and dismiss the facts pointed out by conservatives as not real depending on the messanger.

So now the Russian media considers the US the enemy? What will be the effect of this with Russia's younger generations? Are they planning something we don't know about?

The wonderful theory that by changing Russia to a Free Market Economy overnight, would solve all its problems was proven to be exactly that: a wonderful theory.

Worse, of course, was the sheer idiocy in giving the task to a Harvard theoretician.

A study of Russia's history and their love of conspiracy (Конспирацияо) shows how what they say is not what you get.

And remember Vladamir Putin was head of the KGB.............................
