What do you value more: truth or happiness?
You are on the outside looking in at this society. They wholly believe in some religion which you know to be wrong. However, their perfect delusion leaves their society crime free. They are all at peace and enjoying their lives more than you could imagine.

If you could contact them and prove to them that their religion was wrong, would you?

If you were part of the society would you want someone to be contacted and have your foundation proven to be false or would you rather live in ignorance?

Not responding to the text of the initial post, just the title, when I say , Truth.

It was just an example. There are less obvious ones. "Luke! Would you rather know who your father was which might cause you immense pain and pull you over to the dark side, or shall I leave you in ignorance where you can happily destroy me?!"

in real life, the two are rarely so mutually exclusive, as your examples present them.

i voted truth, believing that happiness is a transitory emotion that each individual must strive to achieve.

I think Iltos is right...the scenerio presented isn't real life...without truth something is going to go wrong.
