One way to tell is how the child conducts his/herself. Do they have a smart mouth. Are they disinterested in their studies. Are they hanging out instead of going home. Are the parents involved at the school. One of my cousins was a teacher in Chicago and she said she could tell a lot about a child's homelife by how they acted in class. It is complicated, but society can't give up on it. Kids have to be kept busy.

Morality and religion DO NOT NEED TO GO TOGETHER....get over it. I have no religion, nor care about religion, but I certainly have morals, and I've had them since I was a young girl.

The probelm with the way the child "conducts" him/herself, smart mouth, etc. is that they are being TRAINED in OUR SCHOOL system, the one that you and I pay for, that their parents CAN NOT DISCIPLINE THEM. In my young days, if I had a "smart mouth" --- my mother would abruptly backhand my mouth

If I pushed it further, I wouldn't be surprised to taste some IVORY SOAP TO THIS DAY, I HATE THAT BRAND

Try that now....you'll be thrown in jail for child abuse

Child abuse my arse....child abuse is NOT BEING ABLE TO TAKE ANY ACTION to make your child a better person.

Spankings, and swats and even an abrupt whack across the mouth never HURT ANY CHILD in the long term.
