House GOP Threatens Shutdown Over Drilling

House Republicans signaled Monday that they are ready to cut off government spending over the issue of offshore drilling, though the party’s Senate leader said he hopes to reach an energy deal and avoid a shutdown.

House Minority Leader John A. Boehner , R-Ohio, called a Democratic energy proposal to allow limited offshore drilling inadequate. Boehner said House Republicans would vote against a spending resolution needed to keep the government running when the new fiscal year begins Oct. 1 unless restrictions on offshore drilling are dropped from it.

They obviously don't want the people they have hurt the most to to vote!

You know BM, this looks like a grab, hopefully a last grab of power by oil...I've said it before, let's nationalize our resources...Private parties are always into it for their own gain, not ours..

Actually I think it gets deeper than that...The Stock Market...What good is it? Why has gambling taken over work for profit? I know that's esoteric, but that's what has happened..

Should make no difference where they are living - a tent, half way house, a van down by the river or cardboard box under the freeway, if they are lawful citizens, registered to vote, they should be allowed to do so.

late night at work and hitting some of the stock eh??

no wonder you try to keep it to less than 6 words in most posts. maybe when the sun is up you might have a clearer head and be able to post something understandable as this made no sense.

We are getting closer and closer to what you are wishing for. Bailing out and taking over Fannie and Freddie is a huge step in that direction. What big mismanaged company will be next? The big 3 automakers who asked for billions in low interest governmetn guarenteed loans? Or the airlines that are on their way to bankrupcy? Why not add oil to the mix? But call it what it is: socialism. I can't argue that we are already on our way in that direction.and it scares me because, as Gerald Ford said: A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have..

I would attempt to but I'd be talking over your head, BTW, if you see the stock market as gambling I suggest you keep your money buried in the backyard. And, if you don't understand why it is that the stock market is the reason you live the comfortable life you do nothing I explain will educate you.
