if The War of the Worlds (radio) broadcast happened in 2007 would the government punish orsen wells as a terrorist?

I keep telling you people, the lizzard men are already here, they live in Area 51 and direct a mind control signal straight into Mr Bush's brain!

Hilary is however onto this and has taken appropriate countermeasures....

In reference to your question, in 2007 I think most people (yes even Americans! ) are aware that we aren't being visited by little green men. So I don't think the widespread panic that Wells' original broadcast generated would occur. Mainly because there are many, many more news outlets than in the 1930's

That said, if a similar panic inducing event was broadcast, maybe something like another 9/11 type scenario, I could easily see it getting out of hand with many thousands of people panicing. The gov't could then use that panic as an excuse to use "terror" laws on the perpetrators. It would of course depend on if the broadcaster was a Democrat or one of the good 'ole boys.
