The burden of wars solved
Ok so let say the leaders of country A have a problem with the leaders of country B the people of both A and B put the leaders to fight it out in a UFC style deathmatch thus saving millions of lives and money.

I would have payed thousands to watch bush and saddam fight, we should have a vote on this.

Surely you jest. Bush is probably the most fit president we've had in the past 100 years. He does manual labor at the ranch, runs and bikes miles. I never saw Saddam do anything but wave to the crowd and shoot a rifle.

Putin would tear him a new one. As would South Korea's and China's I'm willing to wager. Most likely Japan's too.

Saddam is an animal from a tribe of animals. You ever have a fight with an animal who has no fear of getting hurt? Old Sadaam would grab Bushie Boy's testies and eat them for dinner. He's a friggin cannibal. Beyond that, Bushie Boy is a trust baby. I don't care how fit he is--he has no idea how to fight.

Of course Saddam has that problem of being dead but being the animal he is it'll probably only slow him down a little bit.

Fantastic idea! Now all you need is some half-naked woman holding up cards showing which round it is, and the question how to get young people (or at least males) interested in politics would be solved

Geez, I wonder why there’s no other female in this thread…

This kind of stuff is why I always liked the middle ages. Though "total war" occured, especially with ruthless combatants or in instances of religious war, by and large the fighting occured in sieges or set piece battles where two big groups of pissed off men would meet to commence beating the snot out of eachother. Duels between leaders probably didn't happen very often but they did occur from time to time, enough that there is a historical basis behind it.

See, I still think nations ought to war on eachother with swords and arrows instead of guns and bombs. A totally impractical expectation but an idea thats still fun to mentally indulge from time to time.

lol one of my best friends is from anglosaxon origins and he considers himself a modern day viking (he is in a political punk rock band) the funny thing is we argue about this all the time, guns vs swords. me personally I prefer guns, a sniper rifle and a guillie suit are my kind of style
