And also Josef F had raped a woman in the past -- the police is at loss as to why this information wasn’t known to them when the daughter ran away form home twice, then vanished.

OMG...this gets worse and worse by the second....I say that he should share a cell with Mean Gay Bubba (not intended as a derogatory comment to said Bubba...) for a few years and then proceed directly to death row, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

One thing keeps running through my head -- why were the other children, those three who he and his wife raised, special, or more likely why weren’t the three that remained in the cellar special, why didn’t he raise the other three too? … And how did he make his choice -- “oh look he has my eyes! I’m keeping him” -shudder-

Can you imagine how they feel, too? Like 'well, i wasn't good enough to go upstairs' and the others something like 'why did he pick me?' Sadness all around. They are going to be pretty messed up.. I agree.. That guy justs needs the death penalty. Prison food is too good for him.

This is not a work of a man but an animal. No man could psychologically, physically abuse and/or rape his own daughter and their?children. After seeing two minors setting fire to an old woman after they tried to rob her nothing surprises me in this world. What goes around comes around.Even if the walks out of the jail the people around him will make his life miserable to put it mildly and he deserves all the pain he will get. This madness has got to stop.

I may be wrong but was it that the three that were allowed to live upstairs were the oldest three ? Given the manner in which he pretended some had been abandoned on the doorstep by an unknown mother - he claimed that three times .... you'd think that would be suspicious enough to the wife. However as more came along he obviously could not keep doing it.

The two oldest and the youngest (19, 18, 5) were the ones that remained in the cellar.
He always clamed that his daughter had left the children on his doorstep, not an unknown mother. There was always a letter with the child saying that they shouldn’t try to find her.

Ah, ok - the first report I heard on a radio broadcast was of a scenario such as I described ie them being abandoned by an unknown person. It questioned the credulity of his wife in taking them in unquestioningly.

I have to question the innocence of the mother as well....but everyone else seems to think that she's innocent, so I suppose I'll jump on board with that. *shrug*

I have also wondered about that. Could it be that she is a woman who is a doormat fearful of her husband, or so dependent she didn't want to face there might be a problem? Just speculating. This case would be perfect for a lie detector test.

Hiya Leah,

A guy like that spends much time consciously trying to validate his actions. He would probably say if the family circumstances came to light, that society and the media would rightly see him, his wife, his daughter, and all their kids as pariahs and monstrosities. Hence he had to "protect" his family by keeping this buried and locked up. He probably does or at one point did harbor guilt, or remorse about it, but the pure animalistic desire for sexual satisfaction and control is more than his willpower could evidently contain. Instead, he rationalized it - Built a new order in his head - To the point where, what we see as a dysfunctional incestuous family living in an underground dungeon is, to him, a functioning family unit.

It may take years before he expresses remorse, empathy, regret - Things he has spent more than the last twenty years burying deep within his mind. Its hard to say. He could take it to the grave, seeing himself as some kind of Martyr, continuing to twist his immoral actions into some noble and societally acceptable vein...Somewhat similar to Saddam Hussein's writings shortly before his own death, where he spoke of his humanitarian crimes as being for the benefit of the Iraqi people.

Wonderful isn’t it? It is more then likely that he won’t go behind bars.

So what’s there to say to that? Nothing comes to my mind…. Wait maybe “Bravo” would fit -shakes head-

Well, it appears that the U.S. isn't the only place with an F*ed up legal system....
